Diesel has given up on work. He finds it too tiring.

Instead, he has been concentrating on rest. After all, those toys don't shred themselves.

He has been very hard to catch wrapping himself up in his blanket, but finally the master reveals his secrets...

Diesel is very definitely a sunshine dog. His hobby at the moment is Scandinavian-style spa treatments, but for dogs. Instead of a sauna followed by an ice plunge, he suns himself in the conservatory and then comes inside with a big grin on his face to cool down. It seems to be an endless source of amusement for him. He really loves the warm weather at the moment, and remains a master of sleep.

Even better than the walks and the sunbathing is a snooze on the sofa combined with a back-scratch.

We thought we’d post a short update so that Diesel’s old friends can see what he has been up to on his first trip to the seaside.
1.jpg
He wasn’t too keen on the long drive to Cornwall, but he really loved the coast path and was fascinated by the sea when he first saw it.
4.jpg
When he got up close to it, on a beach he had all to himself, he wasn’t sure at first about the way the sea moves, or how cold it is…

But after a few minutes he had got used to it and had a whale of a time running in and out.

However much Deez loved the beach, he never really caught on to the fact that pools of seawater near rocks are often deeper than they look, or that no matter how many different places you try it, the sea is always going to be salty.
The thing about playing on the beach, though, was that it meant he needed to have a bath afterwards...
3.jpg
But what made it all worthwhile was ice cream. Unlike the sea, he was absolutely certain about ice cream straight away. The cone we bought him lasted just two bites!

This was our first Christmas at home with Diesel. As we thought when he came on holiday with us in December a year ago, he’s very into Christmas. He has quickly learnt that things wrapped in paper are well worth tearing open. We didn’t wrap his present, though, since it looked like a present already:

We were right to think it wouldn’t be smiling all that long. He was pretty keen to get his paws on it:

And it lasted about as long as we guessed it would:

Happy Christmas everyone!

Happy Christmas Diesel !

I think these guys just like creating indoor snow, they don't see it as destroying toys !!!

We meant to post this update a month ago, when Diesel’s ‘anniversary’ came round. It’s hard to believe he’s been with us a whole year. He has learnt a few things – and not just what the fridge is for. Anyone who used to walk with the mighty Deez will remember that he was quite a handful – lots of power in a very small frame. Well there’s still plenty of that, but he has discovered that there are advantages to waddling along at heel, so if you catch him when he’s feeling relaxed and pleased with himself, and is walking in a place that he considers his own, you get this…

In fact he’s a bit too fond of this kind of walking at certain times of the day – mainly when he’s feeling peckish.
Where he has made most progress, though, is in getting ready to go out. Remember how hard he was to get out of kennels…?

More than anything, he has perfected the art of making himself comfortable...
