Rocco's Story: Rocco lost his home when his addict owner died. When Rocco was found, the police took him, and he has since been waiting for a new home. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Rocco is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Rocco is in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Rocco's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information:
07.08.18: Hi Lynne, I just spoke to you on the phone about a dog called Rocco as his owner had died. He has been in kennels since early May. He doesn't appear to have been socialised with other dogs however we are working on it. He is wormed, vaccinated, chipped and neutered. He walks nicely on lead and is happy to wear a halti if we need extra control. His time was up on the 6th of July so he really is on borrowed time now. Please let me know if you think you would be able to help, I'd be more than happy to send some pictures over or bring him down to meet you.
Many Thanks, Fx

Lynne kindly popped a harness on Rocco this morning and he was happy to head out for a walk with Louise. He was much calmer than anticipated and he walked happily on a loose lead, having a good old sniff around as he went. We ambled around the woodland, letting Rocco explore the new environment. He was very patient while I took some photos and was brilliant walking over the little bridges that span over the ditches. He is very handsome and I hope someone will spot him soon and adopt him.

Rocco is as lovely in the flesh as in his photos. Hilary walked this boy today and he is friendly and manageable. We passed them walking with Frankie and Buster and no bad reaction from Rocco.

I took this lovely boy out today, he already had his harness on so I just had to clip the leads and go. He seems a gentle soul, he walked along calmly at my side round the woods and stopped to let other dogs go by.

I had a cuddle and he was happy to accept a sausage or two, not just from me but another walker so I can see him being a bit hit whilst he is here.

A lovely dog who deserves a home and loving family of his own

I've walked Rocco a few times and he's an absolute sweetheart (and a new favourite of mine!). He's a little nervous at first but warms quickly to kind, friendly people. He loves to play in the paddock and is happy to stop for cuddles out on a walk love4.gif He passes other dogs really well without much reaction but as far as I'm aware has not been tested with another dog yet. Here's a little video of the gorgeous pup:

Rocco is a favourite of Fiona's. He was easy to harness up and waited patiently whilst I went and got Lexis. Rocco took the lead and was quite happy to walk in front of Lexis, occasionally looking behind to see what was going on! Rocco can be a bit strong on the lead but today there was an aura of calmness around him. We kept him to the wooded pathway and avoided the main road, as he is not keen on passing traffic. He did walk well today but he was a bit bouncy when standing to one side waiting for joggers to pass him. X

Rocco thoroughly enjoyed his walk with Tony yesterday then loved a short car trip with us both. Hopped straight in, investigated, went from one seat to the next, then sat very nicely to get seat belted in. By the time we had got to the end of the lane - 30 seconds, he was laying down on my lap

. Getting him back out was a little harder - he didn’t want to move, we didn’t want to move him but got him out with some bribery (sausages). Rocco will be spending a few days with us on Thursday - it can’t come soon enough - he was such a sweetheart yesterday. Xx.

Rocco has been a dream - he is sound asleep as I write this having eating his dinner with ghusto. He has asked to go outside every time he has needed the toilet - such a good boy. So far he has been as calm as a cucumber - only wanting cuddles and fuss - which we are happy to oblige with. Xx.

Rocco is being such a good boy. I thought he was chewing his blankets but he doesn’t - he sucks and nibbles them - seems to comfort him and he looks very cute. He thoroughly enjoyed his walk this morning - although the lazy lump tried to get back in to the cottage when we doubled back to get to the farmers field. He LOVED the freedom of the extender lead and walked like a dream - not pulling at all. He did make us laugh when he met the farmers dog - 2 minutes of "over the top" barking followed by a yawn, followed by Rocco trying to get back in to the cottage......daft boy. Xx.

Rocco is actually quite a lazy boy - we went to take him out for another walk before it got dark but he done his toilets (he’s not had a single accident indoors) then pulled to come back inside. Below is his favourite place to be......xx.
