Tia's Story: Tia came loose from her owner when they were evicted and he had to surrender her. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Tia is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Tia is a nervous girl and will need experienced owners who won't rush her while she improves her self-confidence and socialisation skills, bolstered by her family's guidance, patience and love. Tia needs support meeting new human friends, but once she does make friends, she truly beams! Tia gets on with other dogs outside, and she is often paired with another dog by our kennel walkers during socialisation walks. She was in boarding kennels near Gatwick awaiting her new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Tia's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information:
05.06.18: Hi Lynne, This is TIA - Came to us because owner was being evicted.
Registered as EBT cross. The housing officers wanted to pts. She isn't spayed so we are having her done Thursday 7th June. I may be able to get her to you Friday or Saturday if you can squeeze her in. She is so nervous. It’s complete fear. We do think she will come round but please read below:
Tia was given her 2nd vaccination today though it was required to muzzle her due to her unpredictable temperament.
The staff have reported that she does not appear too interested in other dogs so far and does not appear to want to interact with them however this is a little difficult to assess fully with her.
Tia is still very nervous towards most of our staff members. There are 2 staff that she is very good with however most other staff she is less enthusiastic and has been witnessed to get a little reactive towards.
Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks Lynne as always she deserves a chance. Michelle x ADM

As sweet little Tia was returning from her walk with Debbie yesterday morning, I had the chance to say hello and take some photos. Tia is making friends, her favourite people being the kennel girls but she is gaining an increasing fan club among the walkers too.
Re:Tia English Bull Terrier x Lurcher DofB 03.05.13 Gatwick Kenns
Tia is wary of new people but once befriended she shows what a sweet, quiet loving girl she is. Tia was happy for me to join her in her kennel this morning and put her harness on. Once out, she walks so nicely with a loose lead. I am getting more and more fond of this wonderful girl.

Lovely Tia has come to stay for the weekend
I hadn’t met her before I popped into her kennel and she was happy to come say hi and let me harness her - she travelled really well on the way home, loved looking out the window watching the world go by ! Home and she did some exploring, all really nice and relaxed, I was very impressed with sweet Tia
Tia was very impressed when I started to make her dinner !!! Ate it all up and didn’t worry about me around her
Then it was time for some cuddles as we got to know each other better ... Tia loves attention and if I stopped tickling her tum she would gently paw me for some more, very very sweet
Tia then tried out her own armchair and was soon snoring zzz zzzzz zzzzzz, no better sound to come from your foster dog

Re: Tia English Bull Terrier x Lurcher DofB 03.05.13 Gatwick Kenns
Well I thought I was bringing home a timid slightly unsure girl to relax slowly as the weekend unfolded...
How wrong was I, Tia unpacked her kennel bag in a nanosecond the moment she entered my house !!! and we’ve had a fabulous weekend of Tia showing me just how very very loving she is and how she loves her life to revolve around tummy tickles and cuddles - what a wonderful girl Tia is
Tia hasn’t put a paw wrong, totally housetrained, 120% !!! Even lets me have a lie in, well she seems to love them too so who needs to go outside for an early morning wee !!! Not Tia !
She’s a tall girl so can counter surf given the chance so a reminder to me to keep things out of reach (my recent fosters have been shorter !!!) - she has a fabulous appetite and eats up her breakfast and dinner and yesterday to build her up she had lunch aswell ! She’s a gentle eater which fits her personality ! But doesn’t leave a morsel, she’s very thorough!!!
The only thing she has taken from my worktop is a 2nd dentastix that I’d left out for her for later - well it’s clearly me who’s the silly one there !!!
No begging when I’ve been eating - the look sometimes but that might be because of the chicken bits I was giving her !!!
Tia was slightly nervous of new and sudden noises, even the air from the fan spooked her but over the course of the day and through to today she’s taking them all in her stride and not at all jumpy. Dogs barking in the distant gardens don’t concern her, lifts an ear but that’s all.
We went for an evening walk last night out of the heat of the day - too hot for me if not too hot for her during the day !!! Walked well on the lead, a bit cross-crossy but she didn’t know the area after all - interested to listen to all the families in their gardens and walked past a lovely lab walking towards us on their lead very well, no reaction at all, interested but happy to walk on by with me as was the lab with her human !
On the first night I went upstairs, I’d not left the curtains drawn so it was hot in my bedroom but I put the fan on. Tia was apprehensive to join me upstairs (maybe not previously allowed ?) but some treats got her up there and onto my bed. She just wanted cuddles and tickles bless her, she really gets in close to you, but didn’t want to settle - I opened the bedroom door as it was very warm and she took herself downstairs. I got changed into my pj’s and went downstairs to check on her, bless she didn’t immediately recognise me and did bark a little. Reassurance with my voice and she soon joined me in the lounge where I’d gone to sit and more cuddles required !
I decided to let her have the run of the rooms to choose where she wanted to sleep - Maybe too much choice too soon as she barked as I went upstairs - so downstairs to the lounge it was, me settled on the sofa and her in her chair and a good night was had by all !!! It was so much cooler downstairs I think I slept better there !
I say all this as night no.2 was nothing like this ! I’d left my curtains closed and the fan on in my bedroom so it was much cooler last night. I let Tia decide where she wanted to sleep again and she didn’t hesitate to follow me upstairs, pop on the bed, snuggle up and then stretch out with her face in front of the fan and settle for sleep - such a sweetheart
I heard her tail wagging, thud thud thud on the bed when she saw me wake this morning !!! and soon had a lovely greeting and kiss from this beautiful baby xxx
Right too many words time for the pics to do the talking ...
Legendary cuddle monster
Can snooze for England Her playful side has come out and there’s no mistaking the whippet side of her when she charges round the garden and bounds when I throw the ball for her
She’s enjoyed some rolling too and then a rest after the sudden exertion of energy in the chase ! Sweet Tia this morning waiting for me to finish my shower

Re: Tia English Bull Terrier x Lurcher DofB 03.05.13 Oxted W/E Foster
Very loving indeed, the most cuddly soft and daft foster in a long time, proper paws round your neck kinda cuddles and front paws that hold you like hands, LOVE HER
Tia is coping well with the heat, choosing my cooler tiled kitchen floor or the spot infront of the fan in the dog bed or indeed on 'her' chair - in between coming to sit next to me and have cuddles
Tia was also very good as I spoke with my neighbour over the fence in my garden, I was unsure how Tia would react so called her and took her collar gently and bless, she stood next to me quiet as a mouse whilst I had a chat with my neighbour over the fence
Playtime in my garden ... Quieter playtime indoors last night after her walk and ofcourse, snoozies afterwards Now I said she likes to snuggle in close, this was bedtime last night And snoozing this morning ...
More snoozles and then I introduced her to the kong filled with treats - she's a bright girl and it didn't take her long to work out how to get them all out Close up snuggles, Tia vs computer on my lap and Tia makes sure she wins, lap dog 1 : lap top 0 So hot today I got the paddling pool out of the shed - now I discovered last night as I was watering the pots with the hosepipe that Tia likes to get the water out the hose and ultimately decided she'd like the nozzle so I resorted instead to a watering can !!! So watering can it was to fill the paddling pool too ! Tia was funny, to her it was one big waterbowl to drink from More garden fun
