Mia & Monty's Story: Mia & Monty became homeless, as their owner is terminally ill: Since passed away. Her family have searched everywhere for a safe Rescue place for her dogs, as no one in her family or circle of friends were able to accommodate Mia & Monty. Rescue Remedies offered Rescue places, saving their lives. Mia & Monty are neutered, chipped and fully vaccinated. Mia & Monty were in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting their new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Monty and Mia are a delightful, devoted pair. They were excited and a little unsure as we first headed out for a walk but they soon settled and walked really nicely. Mia was the one at the front, forging ahead, Monty was behind, very keen to keep up with Mia and not get left behind. While I was sitting down in the paddock taking their photos, they took it in turns to come up close for a cuddle and to offer face washes. love4.gif

Collette and I took these two sweeties out, they are easy to harness, once they have stopped kissing you! Very easy to walk, they are so bonded it is lovely to see. We passed a couple of dogs, and they were very well behaved. Let's hope that their forever home comes soon they have got so much love to give :smiley-bounce016.gi:

Mia and Monty are busy and enthusiastic on their walks but easy to manage. They really look out for each other and other than giving them space when passing other dogs you don't have to think about much while you enjoy a walk with them, you can just relax and enjoy their company.

So the story of Monty and Mia in our Rescue:

We were so happy to help this wondrous pair from such a caring family. When we took them in Monty had a lump on his back right flank which apparently had been there for sometime with out change. He had had a previous lump removed. During their stay with us we noticed another emerging. They were both suffering from coughing and spluttering so we kept them warn and postponed vet trip to allow them to improve. They did well and felt they were ready for 1st vaccination and review of Monty's 2 lumps. Upon putting him the dog mobile I was shocked to see a big increase in just 1 week in the original lump and I knew then this was cancer and growing. We examined the area in the vets to find a 3rd seed of a lump and the vet decided to give them antibiotics to finish their healing with their chest and to take all 3 lumps out 5 days later and begin chemo.

I discussed the situation with Monty's previous family and they were so sad to find it had flared up so quickly having been dormant. They had been reassured the first lump that was removed was just a fat lump.

Suddenly we received a wonderful homing questionnaire in for BOTH. I had just returned from visiting the senior vet as I had seen in 2 days further change. Our senior vet examined Monty and we both knew to remove all three would not irradiate the cancer it would come through with seeding elsewhere rapidily and to put Monty through all the discomfort of radical surgery would be only to compound the situation. Monty is currently not affected by the changes; isn't irritated and is happy in himself but I would say he is drinking more than usual and weeing more as a result. Here they are both in the cafe a week ago when we already knew his cancer was inoperable, as did the family who had enquired.

To our amazement Luisa called us that day to say the family ( Lindsay and Jeff ) had considered the information and wanted to go ahead and offer them both a home.

Tonight they are excitedly exploring their new home and large garden. Our hearts go out to Lindsay and Jeff and we can safely say they are our heros and above all Mia and Monty's heros
