Monty enjoyed another social walk yesterday, this time with Danny. He has walked with Danny before and settled very quickly walking calmly and being polite and respectful with Danny. He loves to walk with another canine companion and is proving himself to be a very sociable boy.

Harry and I walked this young lad yesterday , we took him to the paddock first so he could run off some of his boundless energy. He had a great time chasing a ball and retrieving it. Boy can he run ,knows sit and will give both paws for a treat.
We set off for his walk and by then he was walking to heal .He listens well and he is young enough to train . He is a bit unsure of passing dogs but can be distracted with treats and good boys .
Nice friendly boy just needs someone to give him the training he needs adorable pup x

Monty had a really chilled out walk this morning. We walked slowly and Monty had plenty of time to investigate all the interesting smells along the way.

Monty was very hyped up in his kennel this afternoon so I decided to take him out for a walk. Within 10 mins, away from the stress and noise of the kennels he calmed down, slowed down, connected with me and began to observe his surroundings and start to use his nose to investigate smells. Now I could see the real Monty, the young, clever, engaged, affectionate boy he is, eager to learn and enjoy life to the full. What a reward for just taking the time to give him some quiet, special time away from the kennel environment. Two interesting things caught Monty's attention while we were out. Firstly as we crossed a bridge we spooked a duck who flew right under us, landing on the water next to the bridge. Monty stopped, fascinated and just stood quietly to watch. He was not at all over excited and was ready to walk on again calmly when asked. Second interesting thing was a rabbit hopping around in front of us. This was more exciting and Monty would have loved to get a close up view to investigate further but again as soon as it disappeared he had a sniff along the fence where it had gone and quickly lost interest and focussed back on me and his walk. I then took Monty to the paddock for some off lead time to stretch his legs. He was happy to play with me and fetch a ball if I threw it but I felt he was doing it out of politeness rather than being super eager to fetch a ball. He preferred to potter around the paddock amusing himself or hop up onto the steps with me and enjoy cuddles. The best reward of all he saved until last though. We passed close to Kevin heading out for his walk on the way back and where normally Monty would have reacted and barked, he barely took any notice and was quiet and calm passing by. Wow, well done Monty boy.

It's been a challenging week for the dogs because of the weather and the building work going on at the kennels. Monty is getting quite stressed by kennel life, he really needs to be in a much calmer environment where he can relax and enjoy building his trust and social skills with other dogs. He is young and so wants to learn and experience all that life has to offer so I am praying his forever home comes soon. We had a lovely walk in the snow this morning, Monty stopping to have lots of sniffing time. He was quite bouncy in the snow in an inquisitive sort of way. We passed several other dogs at a distance and as Monty had space he was just a bit grumbly until they went out of sight. He needs reassurance around other dogs and to build his trust and social skills slowly with a person who he can trust and who can help him along. He has proved he can be comfortable with other dogs on his walks with Timmy Tim.

Monty had a sociable walk yesterday with Tilly and Keisha. Having just come away from the hype of the kennel block he was initially rather agitated, barking at and focused on Tilly and Keisha (who were behind us) who were not reacting to him at all. You need to give Monty time to settle himself and sure enough after about 5 minutes he calmed right down and although still observing them was quite happy with them following and in fact was communicating calmly, not needing to get any closer but happy that they were there. Given time and confidence from the other end of the lead, Monty can and will socialise well with other dogs. Slowly and carefully building Monty's confidence and experience will help him immeasurably. It is a privilege to work with Monty and see him blossom.

Monty came out of his kennel this morning quite stressed. Unfortunately we had to pass another reactive dog on the way out which did not help matters. However we then caught up with his buddy Timmy Tim and Monty went straight up to Timmy, greeted him and relaxed and showed how happy he was to have a pal to walk with. I will let the photos show how good he was around Timmy. The, photos are in order, the first photo shows him first going up to Timmy and the last one shows how relaxed they ended up walking with each other.

As Monty and I headed out for our walk this morning we saw Roxy (walking with Jo) going out for her walk. Monty was desperate to go with Roxy so we ran to catch up and Monty was beautifully behaved with his companion the whole walk. He would have loved to get up closer but I was clear that Roxy must have her space and he respected that and settled for walking next to her. He did sneak up for a little sniff at one point but Roxy wasn't bothered.
