Gambit (Lucky) Staffie DofB 09.08.08 - 19.06.20
Sadly my gorgeous Gambit went over the rainbow on the 19th June, Gambit was a wonderful beautiful boy who was dearly loved and we miss him so much.
I wanted to let RR know that he had passed. Charn Current Status: Homed
Gambit's Story : Gambit was owned by a homeless man, ended up being taken in by a lady with children and cat. Gambit nipped 4 year old and Gambit has come into Rescue to find him a less demanding home. Settled with cats and was good with children just home too busy and unsettled him: Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Gambit is now neutered; chipped and fully vaccinated. Gambit was in Guildford Kennels
PLEASE NOTE: Dog laws have changed with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces and manage encounters for at least 4 months until sure of their dogs instincts & skills, most of our dogs will need to be retained always on a lead, so as not to place dog's lives at risk, (Destruction or Control Orders are common place nowadays).
***PLEASE HELP OUR LONG STAY DOGS: Our min. adoption donation £175, which supports our work and Is non returnable. We will offer an alternative dog should our dog not settle given adequate time and reassurance. Rescue Remedies offers their dogs back up for life and exist on the goodwill of our supporters and volunteers.
Please click for Gambit's thread for regular updates, new pictures and videos. To apply to home a dog, you must be ready within 7 days and complete a homing questionnaire submitted Online We work fast to secure our dogs their loving homes and can be talking to up to 10 families at any one time. Please remain open: We have the dogs we have. Our dogs need a supportive family to offer patience, time & tolerance to allow them to settle. Gambit's progress through our Rescue below
Original Referral information : We work with our dogs & often reveal a different picture & positive skills as they build trust. 13.03.17: Entire SBT male, 8 years old. Owner is long term homeless and unable to care for Gambit, who has been sleeping rough with his owner. A lady who lives nearby, witnessed the owner abusing Gambit, as had others in the area, but police and RSPCA had taken no action when informed. She had seen him hitting Gambit with a metal lead and has seen Gambit thrown into the railings near the shops. The lady took Gambit in and he has been good with her cats and with her 4 children, but he scratched and nipped her 4 year old so we were approached for help as a precaution. S&S Angie xx

Re: Lucky Staffie DofB 2009 Guildford Kennels
Met this little heartbreaker for the first time today.
I had read his story beforehand so thought that I might be meeting a sad little mite.....how wrong was I?
Lucky gave me a very friendly welcome in his kennel, helped me in popping on his harness and off we went for a wander in the Spring sunshine.
Some of his kennel mates rudely shouted at Lucky as he walked by and Lucky's response? - a smile, a wiggle of his bum and a wag or twenty of his tail!
He was very happy to be out and about as indicated by his wiggly bum and tail which NEVER stopped wagging for the hour we were together.
We headed to Ozzie's Bus Stop first for some cuddles and a chat to get to know each other and he loved sitting on my knee watching the world.
Once we did get walking he confidently took everything in without a blink of an eye - cars, motorbikes, cyclists, runners, people, trains......you get the picture!
He is a very slight framed, dinky little Staff and needs to put a few pounds on and his face is pure gorgeousness. As for that wonky right ear.......COR!
Beautifully behaved on the lead too.........Mr Dinky, Sweet, Happy, Easy Peasy..........a fabulous little lad

I took Lucky out for a walk just now. He's a really nice dog and a good boy. I could see the poor guy was stressed and needs some love and care (and fattening up). It was tough leaving him in his kennel at the end of the walk. He was very good on his walk. Here's some photos I took:

Re: Lucky Staffie DofB 2009 Guildford Kennels
I had a lovely walk with Lucky this morning accompanied by my husband Sandy.
Lucky is a gentle and affectionate dog. He walks very well, doesn't pull, is obedient and regularly checks to see that you are happy with him.
He likes human interaction and would make a lovely companion to someone. We walked past people, dogs and geese and he only showed a flicker of interest but checked back to see what we wanted him to do each time.
Any new owner would "lucky" to have Lucky in their life.
