Vinnie Story: Both Vinnie's owners died and no one in their family could take him in; no other rescue would either. We offered Vinnie a Rescue place to save his life. Vinnie's friendly, Staffie ‘people person’ attitude positively shines! He has been with our rescue since December 2015, and is more than ready for his forever home! Vinnie is neutered, chipped and fully vaccinated. Vinnie was in boarding kennels in Guildford whilst awaiting his new family.
Vinnie is a beautiful Shar Pei x Staffie. He is a fun and friendly character and loves his humans. Vinnie led a sheltered life before rescue, and was not properly socialised. He can get flustered with dogs in close proximity, due to his lack of skills. Vinnie is happy to carry a tennis ball (or two!) for distraction. Vinnie would like owners who are familiar with the Shar Pei breed, and do not have high expectations for Vinnie's fluency with other dogs. 'Vinnie Two Balls' would like his humans all to himself in his home. Not for children or small furries.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Vinnie's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Re: Vinnie Shar pei x Staffie DOB 2008 Guildford Kenns
Vinnie is a dinky, easy, gentle, sociable little lad. I don't normally take dogs I don't know out on an extender but it was his lead and he has a way of putting you at ease immediately (I took an extra lead just in case but I needn't have worried). He's not a fan of the kennel environment but he is settling. Oh and he's stunning.
He's way smaller than he looks in photos.

Re: Vinnie Shar pei x Staffie DOB 2008 Guildford Kenns
Vinnie and I had a date today. It was so wonderful because this gorgeous boy remembered me from yesterday and let me harness him in his kennel, even put his head into the harness in his anticipation of getting a walk. The thing with Vinnie is he likes to walk alone if he can and he likes to make up his walk as he goes. We had the most wonderful walk. It was horrendous rain again today and even though Vinnie is not a fan of rain he just kept on going as long as it was on his terms. He is affectionate, happy and cuddly even in torrential rain! He seemed to want to be with me and snuggled up to me and cuddled me and even gave me kisses. This boy has completely jumped into my heart, he was out with me yesterday so he knew me and trusted me. Vinnie needs to know who is taking him out and needs trust building up. He is completely and utterly gorgeous. When it was time to take him back to his kennel he cried so I sat with him and cuddled him and settled him. A beautiful happy little boy who is dinky and gorgeous. Are you looking for a cuddly companion who would love to take you for walks to show you the world and to give you love and kisses back? Well then Vinnie is your boy. His previous owner unfortunately died, but from seeing Vinnie, I know that his owner loved him so much. I am looking forward to many more walks with this little man xxxx :cloud9.gif:

I had a wonderful walk with Vinnie today. He is such a sweet boy. Really enjoys his walks, he especially liked the extender lead and it was really lovely to see him trotting around. Vinnie is sooooo easy to harness and walk. He lifted up his feet to help me with the harness and walked beautifully. Such a special boy who really needs to be in a loving home not stuck in kennela. Fingers crossed it comes for him soon. Vinnie is lovelu.

Re: Vinnie Shar pei x Staffie DOB 2008 Godstone Kenns
I collected this gorgeous boy from Guildford this morning for a trip to the vets. He was much smaller than I expected and needed a helping hand into the boot of the car and the crate for the trip around the M25. There were a few snuffles to start with then he settled on his bed for most of the 50 minute trip. We were early so I took him for a short walk on the roads round Westerham so we could get to know each other. He certainly loves a sniff and has a super cute walk, started to get quite fond of this little chap! When we finally got to the vets he was all waggy tail and excitement to be somewhere new. Took his premed jab like a good little soldier, not even a murmur, and then I left him with the nurses for the minor procedure - just hope he forgives me when I collect him later! (Husband says he may not!) I think he is going to have a few days at Godstone, don't worry Guildford walkers, I know he's going to be well looked after and cuddled.

Vinnie has come to stay for a night out of kennels
He came on an adventure with me today, down to Godstone this morning, Vinnie was Mr Perfect having his harness put on and exiting the kennels, quick walk for him to do his business and he quickly obliged
Jumped into my car and was my passenger up to Broxbourne where I was photographing some of the new dogs. He'd got a nylabone and a rubber bone in there with him and he LOVED them
Travelled so well and needed a quick nap after destroying the rubber bone ! A mighty fine job he did of it and it really did occupy him well on the journey ! The nylabone was undefeated you'll be pleased to hear !
Nice walk at Broxbourne on the extender, such an easy boy to walk and he clearly loves his walkies
Then he waited nicely for me in the passenger seat whilst I photographed all the dogs and I gave him a stretch of his legs every hour and before we left to set off home so all in all I think he had a nice day ! When I got in to the car to come home I went to re-arrange the bedding so Vinnie would be comfortable and I realised the reason it was all ruffled was because he had 'buried' his nylabone !!! Quite happy with me around him rearranging the bedding even though I'd only really met him this morning !
Vinnie snoozed a bit more of the journey home but did find a tennis ball on a rope to make a tennis ball in pieces, no longer on a rope !!! Great lad the whole journey, can't fault him
Home and into the garden to explore - fairly brief as it was dark and raining and Vinnie wasn't impressed with that, he wanted to come back inside ! Loved his dinner and happy for me to be around his bowl.
Vinnies coat is sooo shiny, such good condition and that sqidgey face of his, simply irresistible
After dinner Vinnie has been keen to investigate my toy rack (vegetable rack used for much more important things like dog toys !). His very very favourite at the moment is 2 tennis balls, we have a new Mr 2 Balls on the block ! Perfect at carrying them both and he's made me laugh sat on the sofa next to him, he's got his 2 balls with him, every so often one falls off the sofa and Vinnie looks as if to say 'how did that happen?' Then he'll get off and usually that makes the other one roll off too so he has 2 to round them up and collect both which he does then back on the sofa ! He's currently sleeping I think with 2 tennis balls in his mouth, think he's resting on them !!! Lovely sweet snuffly sleepy noises coming from the gentle boy :)
Great boy and so made for home life, love him

Big hug delivered to the lovely Vinnie
We had such a good time today, really enjoyed Vonnie's company and he's such an easy boy to have around, I've done some working and Vinnie was good as gold snoozing or chewing toys, we've done some playing in the garden, great fun had, very nice walkies, cuddles, Vinnie likes to sit with his bottom on your knee so you can cuddle him! and much laughter on my part ! Vinnie is a character !
Sad part of the day was taking him back to kennels this afternoon but he was greeted by many on arrival and got much fuss ! Bless him, such a good boy even when going back to kennels. Wish I could have kept him longer but Vinnie's not that keen on staying in by himself and I've got an early start into London tomorrow :? Will see you soon Vinnie xxx
So here's some pics from our day...
Vinnie's perfect 'sit' for brekkie ! Outdoor fun... Vinnie's lazy start to the day... "Ok, if there's a toy involved you've got my attention !" After our morning walk it was time for me to do some work, Vinnie relaxed nicely, trying out various positions for comfort ! Came over to say hi ! All my fosters love this position at the top of the stairs, they can keep an eye on me in my study just next to the stairs and they can see out the long window to the stairs and watch the world go by outside Break time at last, time for garden fun
Mooching around... And running around... Back to mooching !... And ofcourse some ball throwing and chasing "Got the small ball, hmm wonder if I can do 2 balls with a big and little 'un ?" One will do... "No, I'm going to try again, reckon I can do this" "Yey, done it" Vinnie had me in stitches with his antics and determination
All that fun means a rest is in order ! Looking out the window, Vinnie is a great passenger in the car And one more walk back at the kennels, well more like a paddle !!! Vinnie has been great fun, the more he got to know me and vice versa, the more fun we had, he would hold his head over my hand whilst holding the 2 tennis balls in his mouth to tempt me to try and get them, very slobbery though so that was impossible !!! He'd wait for me to try then move his head away and want me to chase him !!! Like I said, quite the character !!!
Oh and I haven't mentioned what a good boy he was overnight, slept through no problem and at just gone 8 out to the garden for his business, all done and back inside ! Nice to know Vinnie is housetrained, another string to his bow, he has many strings does good boy Vinnie
