Herbie the champion

Post by Nurse Flo » Sun Jul 19, 2015 6:59 pm

Today we met up with Lily (RR Staffie that we fostered in January) & her family to attend a local Companion Dog Show in aid of several dog charities.
We entered Herbie, our rescue Staffie, into the Most Handsome Dog. My sole aim was to contribute to the pot of pennies for the charities (it cost £1.50 to enter a class) and to have a bit of fun with my wonderful boy. At least 40 other dogs had been entered into our class too so the show ring was cosy! There was every breed imaginable on show. Sadly, some people seemed to take this "novelty" class a tad too seriously armed as they were with brushes and combs and stands for their dogs to stand on
I am VERY proud to tell you all that Herbie CAME FIRST IN SHOW! The steward had to call our number three times before I realised it was Herbie that had won. Herbie is a fabulous example of the breed being friendly with every person and every animal he meets. This for a lad who was dumped 4 times by different people before he was 20 weeks old. Herbie collected his trophy from the judge in style by smiling and singing and wiggling his bum. The judge told me that he was fabulous and in such great condition. I could hear most of the crowd whispering "A Staffie winning-really?" so it felt even better as a proud Staffie owner for my lad to have his minute of glory in front of all those expensive, perfectly groomed darlings. For all you Staffie's out there, Herbie did you all proud today :smiley-gen132.gif:
