I took Truman for a walk today and well it was a walk of two halves really. He is getting better at coming out of his kennel and tries hard to be good and not grab the leads. However once outside he can’t resist his favourite game of tug with the lead. Once you get him going though he is actually a dream to walk, he doesn’t pull and walks along very nicely. This boy is still young and eager to learn and just needs his forever home who are prepared to teach him the finer manners in life. love4.gif

Louise and I shared a walk with Truman this morning. He was initially anxious exiting the kennels past the other dogs and did grab the lead but we started walking, letting him hold the lead in his mouth and as we walked away from the kennel he relaxed and dropped the it and proceeded to walk beautifully with a loose lead for the rest of the walk. We walked around the woods and across the back field stopping, at Truman's request, at the poets hut for cuddles. He really is a big softie and was very happy to be fussed by both of us.

A lot of thanks goes to the lovely Hannah Critchlow from Stray Aid . Hannah and the team worked hard to bring him round to be more trusting.

My goodness Lynne.. That dog looks incredible- his coat, his demeanor. Evrything about him,

Got to give you huge respect at the transformation of these frightened vunerable dogs you take in for me and many others .

Lovely smiley Truman, gorgeous to look at. Poor Truman is starting to get stressed in kennels displayed by his grabbing of harness and lead when getting out for a walk.
In response to this we agreed to leave harness on and I’ve started to taking him into the paddock to have a run around and cuddles off lead.
He’s still a playful pup and has a great coat so you can’t keep your hands off him which he’s happy about as like all our dogs, love cuddles!

Diane and I had a lovely time in the paddock with Truman yesterday. He is stressed in his kennel but once he is free to roam in the paddock he relaxes and shows his friendly, playful nature. Truman and I had a lot of fun playing football. For a big dog his speed and coordination is incredible, he can outmaneuver me for sure! It was lovely to see him relaxed and carefree, if only for a bit of time. He really needs a home where he can shake off his stress and show his true character, relax and be happy and loved. He has so much to give. love4.gif

Truman is a pickle to get out of his kennel - but once free and off lead in the paddock he is a different boy. Tony and myself walk him every Sunday - I’d like to think he trusts us as he’s becoming more and more affectionate with us. He rolled on his back today - legs in the air and just wanted his tummy tickled. If I sat down, he came over and nestled in to my legs. He loves being fussed and told what a good boy he is. Truman is not the easiest boy but I cannot and will not ever hold that against him - it is amazing he has any trust in humans at all after what he’s been through. Xx.

Getting Truman ready for his walk is an experience....and I should definitely be a size 8 by Xmas - it’s a full body workout! However this boy just shines off lead in the paddock. He comes over to me constantly, sits by my side and wants a cuddle and a stroke - he is calm and happy. Truman has a lot to learn - he doesn’t have a lot of manners in place at the moment - he’ll grab a ball or a lead if I’m holding them - no malice just a big, strong boy who due to his past, has few boundaries. He’s very friendly though - I’m always amazed he still has such a sunny nature. Xx.
