Mandy left us on St Valentines Day breaking our hearts

Mandy's Thread below:
Mandy's Story: Mandy was removed from her owner due to owner's mental health problems. The owner, who wasn't caring for her, had been banned from keeping dogs. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place, saving Mandy's life. Mandy is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Mandy is in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.
• Soft bulldog temperament, a little hard on mouth in play but gauges with feedback then licks
• Pulls on lead and reacts to dogs but does listen. Given chance displays nerves and backs away. Forever clumsy with dogs
• Needs shielding from intrusive off-lead dogs
• Housetrained
• Can be left 4-5 hour spells
• Non-destructive when left

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Mandy's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information:
17.11 17: Can you please help Mandy another SBT cross removed by wardens from a local person I have refused animals to in the past, he has mental health issues. Problem is he doesn't know dog is with me so I am unable to advertise her. Mandy was neutered but we opened her up to be sure and she was already. Very human focused but doesn't like other dogs or cats. Hope you ok, no doubt drowning in a sea of dogs, sorry to put more pressure on but Mandy is the urgent one.
Thanks Mikey xx

Oh Mandy's pictures will never do her justice in my opinion as she is one of the most striking dogs I have ever met in the fur.

Mandy is very affectionate and adores everyone she meets. She's currently a bit of a nutbar around other dogs but I think she'll come round as given space and reassurance she relaxes and wags her tail as she watces dogs from a distance. She's probably been smacked for getting excited around other dogs as she appeared to think I was going to hit her a couple of times, her delight at getting a kiss and a scratch instead was heartbreaking. She just needs to create some positive associations with other dogs then I'm sure she'll be fine.

Mandy has amazing bulldog front legs, flop over ears, velvety fur on her neck and a smooshy face that demands kisses. She's a perfect medium size and a loving sweetheart of a dog. NEW FAVOURITE ALERT!

Met Mandy today for the first time and despite getting absolutely drenched in the heaviest rain shower ever I think that we enjoyed our time together!
She walked beautifully today wearing a head collar with the just the odd bit of excited silliness evident.
Mandy needs exposure to life and other dogs and she coped well in busy ole Guildford today.
She is so fantastically focused on her human, loves a treat & does a fab sit so she was was easy to distract when another dog came into view.
I REALLY do think that with time Mandy will chill around other dogs as she really impressed me today with her ability to focus on me and let other dogs walk on by at a distance.
This girl is just going to flourish.

Mandy has such a gorgeous face and a winning smile .She loves having all the attention on her and wiggles as you give her back rubs.Clearly has a strong bond with humans as we met a stranger whilst walking and Mandy adored the rubs, tickles and chat the lady focused on her , she wins hearts easily.
I was very impressed with her walking happily in her new head Halti , she didn't mind it at all and walked a lovely comfortable pace alongside me.
She so deserves a loving , comfortable home and the love of a human or two .

Mandy was a goofball leaving her kennel - telling all the other dogs off on her way. However, outside she passed dogs with much less intensity but wasn't comfortable with them close by. She struck me as being a total novice with other dogs and completely under socialised with them. Where she comes in to her own is around people - she loves them and is the gentlest, sweetest girl. Loves being hugged and will lap up every bit of attention she can. She walks very well, slight pulling but nothing major. We enjoyed a lovely walk in the sunshine on a less busy route. Mandy was calm, relaxed, just happy to be out in the lovely weather we had this morning. X

I got to walk the gorgeous Mandy on Saturday. Her new kennel place meant getting her out of the back way was no problem on my own. She was welcoming in her kennel and let me harness her with no issue. We headed for the paddock and she loved playing fetch, dropping the ball at my feet each time when bringing it back. Good girl! She loves a cuddle and is an amazing girl.

When we came back I let her and Troy have a look at each other as we walked passed his kennel. They looked at each other, neither barked and no reaction.

She is a beautiful girl with a lovely affectionate nature. I hope I get to walk her again!

I had another wonderful walk with Mandy yesterday. She is such an affectionate girl who loves spending time with people and being out and about on her walks. She loves playing fetch in the paddock and always brings the ball back and drops it for you to throw again. I absolutely love spending time with this charming lady!
