I just love my weekends now and they wouldn't be the same without gorgeous Glynis, the wannabe superstar, who in my eyes has made it! Collected Glynis on Thursday, she was pleased to see me and a quick hop in the back of the car and we were off on our way to her spa weekend! (well my house!). A quick stop off at Mum's for a walk and back to mine for a chilled relaxing evening. Friday she spent the day at Mum's, I did pop home at lunchtime to take her for a walk but that wasn't her normal routine, so there was a face on paw moment (for the rest of the afternoon). Glynis heard me pull up onto the drive and whilst she doesn't appear to be over affectionate, I was licked and licked (special moment!). Glynis enjoys her walks a lot, and tires me out! When she wants to go, there is no stopping her. She jumped onto the bed on Friday night for strokes and a cuddle (very unusual), stayed for half and hour or so, and was then back downstairs snoring on her blankets. Usually I have to wake her for breakfast, but not on Saturday, at 7am she was upstairs looking around for company! Once I was up, she went back to sleep again (charming!). Before walking her chums at the kennels, we went for a walk, and when I got back, desperate for a chill myself, we were off again for a walk! Once home, she spotted next doors cat Cookie sitting on the shed roof, yes, Glynis can get up on 'two legs'. Those back leg muscles are there and ready! I tried Gynis out with a Kong today, not sure she was up for it, but she quite liked the idea of treats being 'automatically dispensed' every time it was shook (my fault, I hate to see her not grasping the concept!). Will try harder not to interfere next week! We had some lovely walks in the park this weekend. I don't like taking her back her to kennels, she barks when I leave, but the blankets are already being laundered for her next stay. Adorable, she just needs a retirement home now.......She deserves it x

How lovely it is to read about Glynis's time away from the kennels. She is lovely - I walked her yesterday and her patience and dignity never fail to astound me. She does indeed walk at a fast pace and usually where she wants to go! Yesterday we enjoyed a walk with Nicki and Millie - it was a sociable walk so Glynis can get used to company and she seemed to love it. She never likes to go back to her pen although she can be consoled with some sausage and she does bark very plaintively when you leave her. I think it is a fairly distinctive, haunting bark which remains with you and makes you wish you could spend more time with her. :crossfingers.gif: that retirement home comes soon for this lovely girl.

Glynis walked with me for the first time today. She welcomed me in, albeit a little unsure to start. She is a true delight to walk. We walked with Kirsty and Fredds, Glynis taking the lead and rather enjoying being in front! We had a scary moment where her back legs fell down the gap caused by a missing plank on the bridge - thought I was going to lose her for a moment 0002.gif]
Half way around we met a couple more walkers and their dogs and they joined us on the way back, Glynis still in the lead. She seems to enjoy having company. we had a bit of time before going back to the kennel and Glynis had the chance to say hello to a few more of the volunteers. The transformation is amazing from when she first joined us and just goes to show the love and care she has received from Rescue Remedies. I am sure that Glynis is ready for her new home and will make a brilliant companion. love4.gif

I always end my walks, if I can, with a walk with Glynis. I then leave the kennels feeling calm and really happy. She has that affect on me. With her soft velvety coat, and calm demeanour she is a perfect walking companion. She has been through such a lot and yet is so lovely. :crossfingers.gif: her perfect home comes soon as she so deserves to be really happy. :crossfingers.gif:

Glynis has come to stay for another weekend at mine. When I got to the kennels on Thursday she was out walking with heleny. I thought when I got her back to mums she would happily settle down for a chill and a cuppa. Glynis had other ideas! She wanted to walk again. This girl likes a routine! Not to disappoint we went out and I was glad we did. Her sociable walks at the kennels have been working, she passed 2 other dogs well and wasn't at all interested. However, what she was unable to ignore were the 3 (yes 3!) lovely police officers we met, she wasn't going anywhere until 2 of the 3 had given her a little stroke and paid her some attention! She's currently sleeping, relaxed and content. She's a chilled girl, hopefully loving her life now that she has found herself safely wrapped in the love and care of the rescue. She just needs to find herself her forever home. Lovely little lady x

Glynis has been such a good girl today. I had to wake her this morning for her breakfast (this girl likes to sleep!). We had a lovely calm walk before I disappeared to the kennels to walk her chums. She was ready and waiting when I got back, to go out for a walk, she is just loving her life. She is sleeping at the moment, stretched out and chilled. It's lovely to see her so relaxed.

Just a little update on gorgeous Glynis..............She is spending the week at her spa retreat and chilling with me. We have had some lovely long walks and the weather has been kind to us! She is currently having an afternoon nap but will be awake in an hour or so for her dinner, so I thought it would be a good idea to update her doggie thread in between sleeping, walks and pamper sessions. Last night we went to Tilgate Park, she seemed to enjoy it. I thought the walk there might be enough to tire her out, but she carried on walking around the park, taking in the sights. Stopped off at the pub, where she sat nicely on her blanket (yes I took her blanket as I knew she wouldn't settle on decking!) She was happy enough to watch the comings and goings of people and other dogs, a few barking sessions but I guess she just wanted to be noticed. Back home, it didn't take her long to settle and she slept through the night, waking this morning at 9am for breakfast. Just a few photos of our walk.....she is making my week off a very chilled one. X

Glynis.............I just love this girl and I need to get her a forever home, to live out her retirement. She is just.....just lovely! She has spent the last week with me at her spa retreat and I have found out so much about her!

She loves to eat, walk, sleep, repeat! (She loves a routine!)
She loves sausages, ham (not both on the same day!) and cheese. She eats all her breakfast and dinner.
If you treat with a sausage......don't think about giving her a 'biscuit'......she ain't stupid!
She prefers to do her 'business' when out.....the garden is for sniffing and relaxing in.
She loves a 'bum' scratch', and likes to be stroked and groomed (with one of those rubber mitts)
She loves a lay in, likes routine and likes her wrinkles on her head stroked when she is going to sleep. She sleeps through the night.
She gets excited when going for a walk, putting your trainers on (usually gives it away!), she will follow you, stamp her feet, get excited, but doesn't bark!
She barks when you come home, when she hears your car, and is there waiting for you. If you are really lucky, she may give you a massive LICK!
She can be stubborn, squirrels and cats excite her. She won't move until they have gone! And barks at cats (they really aren't her cuppa tea)
She travels well in the car.
Always take a blanket, Glynis likes to be comfortable.
She does a perfect........wait, over, sit, gently.................she doesn't beg.
She doesn't like cats or her feet touched. She still hasn't quite worked out the concept of a 'Kong', but she will get there!
She meets all sorts of people well, be it, the bin men (in hi-viz attire) to teenagers (with blue hair), she doesn't mind..................as long as they give her a respectful, gentle approach, she is up for making friends.
This girl, is just totally amazing after everything she has been through, she is ready to chill out and relax in her forever home. I so hope it comes soon for her. I really do x

Glynis - calm, beautiful girl
I walked Glynis today after quite a few hours' walking. I had walked the terriers and had been amused, entertained, almost enthralled by their antics and their attitudes and so I definitely needed a calm half hour spent with this lovely lady. Her presence is almost therapeutic - she is so lovely and walks along calmly and with such dignity. It was a real delight and pleasure to spend this half hour with her in the woods.

Glynis, I adore her. She spotted me as soon as I signed in this morning and barked. Bless her heart, I had decided she was to be my last walk of the morning as I wanted to spend a bit more time with her as I am not able to have her stay over for the next couple of weeks. She was pleased to see me and was quick out of her 'little black shed' (as I call it) and ready to get on her way. She still has an appetite for sausages and very much likes the Lily's Kitchen snack bars! I think I may have to buy some of those for her next visit! I've finally found the Poets Hut and was pleased that my first visit there was with Glynis. She doesn't normally jump up on chairs, but today she showed her agile side and jumped up on the chair and sat albeit very briefly for a quick photo. We didn't stay long as she wanted to get on her walk. She is so easy on the lead and once over her initial 'got to get there' pace, she just trots along nicely taking in all the smells around her. It was hard putting her back in her kennel today and we did go back to see her with more treats (she was in her bed chilling). Luckily for me, Lynne bought her into the paddock to attend the picnic and she met and greeted the walkers/visitors very well (she knows everyone!). She loved the cocktail sausages! She does love attention and it was great to see her curly tail wagging. She is just gorgeous! X

Gorgeous Glynis! She was supposed to be my last walk of the day, but ended up being my first and last walk! Yes lucky Glynis had two walks today, how could I not? It's hard signing in and looking over at Glynis, hearing her bark at you and not go and harness her up for a walk. She is lovely on the lead, walks so well, quick at the start but once settled into a nice pace, she will walk and walk and walk, so calm. She passed a couple of other on lead dogs really well, I was so proud of her. A little bark at one, but then she was on her way again. She has her nose into everything, doesn't really like puddles (walks around them) but is happy for me to have to walk through them! She enjoyed her strokes and bum scratch and she is looking so well. Her second walk was a little slower but still a good pace. She knows my car and she took me to it twice. Bless her heart. She joins in with the 'barking banter' and has quite a daunting bark, but maybe she has the hots for 'Hooch' who she can see from her 'little black shed' (as I call it with love!). Glynis needs a quiet life with a little walking routine. I so hope she finds it soon. X
