As you can see from the photos, Hooch is a very handsome boy and so tends to attract a lot of attention when we're out walking. He loves being in the centre of the action and where everyone is; last Saturday as we returned from our walk, there was a gathering of walkers talking about the plan of action for next walks and in strolls Hooch, calm in the knowledge he's the George Clooney of the kennel and all the ladies (ok, and the men!!) will be providing him with lots of cuddles.

While Hooch's 'moments' can be off putting, for much of the time he is an easy and calm walk. He often has his velvet soft ears pricked up to see what is going on the whole time, yet when he really chills and his ears are relaxed, it's heart meltingly adorable as he can just 'be' and no need to react or respond, just walk and take it all in.

Hooch is a very special boy with a big circle of friends. He is coming a long way and while he can still have bouts of being mouthy and a bit giddy, these are getting fewer and further between as he grows into the very special boy we always knew he is!!

I don't get the chance to walk Hooch very often, but was able to do so today. Helen Y who loves Hooch too decided to join us. Hooch has a very large fan club thumbs.gif We set off with Hooch walking really nicely, enjoying all the sights and smells. As we walked along the main road we had several HGV's thundering by us which unsettled Hooch. He laid down at one point looking very worried. We reassured him and he was quite happy to continue walking. A couple of sausages works wonders! We then had the misfortune to pass a tractor and a road sweeper which again, Hooch didn't like. We were back to a more relaxed Hooch as we walked up the bridle path. He trotted along quite happily, just glancing at the sheep in the field as we walked passed. Always a pleasure to walk Hooch, he is such a friendly and lovable boy. Love him to bits love4.gif xx

Today Kim and I took Hooch for a walk. This handsome chap is fun to walk and quickly settles into a good rhythm.
He enjoys looking around when walking and will look up if guidance is needed.
When walking it's nice to afford him time for a sniff as his sense's are amazing.
He totally ignored a dog that was barking madly at him, with style.
On the way back he saw and heard something under a pallet so we allowed him to check it out. Whatever it was ( a mouse) did a runner but Hooch thought, he'd best make sure.
Thanks Hooch for keeping us safe from a tiny tiny mouse.
What a fun walk.

Hooch very much enjoyed his walk today with April. Hooch really is maturing into a happy affectionate boy. He really enjoys his walks, and as Jim wrote in the previous post, Hooch loves a good sniff about. Also I love a smooch with Hooch! 0002.gif]

We had a lovely walk and a good cuddle session with Hooch recently.
What with his youth, he was keen for me to update his social media accounts, so here are some updates for his followers to like.

Hooch is coming on really well. He is getting calmer over time and enjoys his walks a great deal. He sniffs EVERYTHING and really takes in his environment.
He also really loves human affection and cuddles. He loves tummy rubs and being stroked behind his ears. It’s taken him a while to accept affection whilst staying calm, it all used to be a bit over stimulating for him, but I think he has worked out that the longer he stays relaxed without getting all fizzy, the more love he gets. Simple. I am so proud of him and his progress. He is super lovable and gets noticeably more mature every week.

So with that in mind, we decided to have a nice cuddle with him in the poets hut and these are the snaps:

I will hop back up on your lap and watch the squirrels while you fuss me please

Finish with a lovely close up. What a handsome dog. (Everyone always comments on that when we are on our walks)

Hooch enjoyed a shady woodland walk today and it suited him very well :D
We popped into the poets hut, which was very very warm so Hooch was happy to accept a drink of water from Charlie thumbs.gif

I love spending time with Hooch. I have seen him come into RR as a pup and grow in a wonderful dog. He always remains upbeat and I think that shows what a resilient character he is considering kennels can be tough for any dog, let alone for one so young. He really enjoys his walks and will snuffle around taking in all the smells. He is much more affectionate than when he first come in, he adores back scratches, ear rubs, belly rubs, you name it! I get a quick kiss as well when he is being soppy!

His mouthing on walks has really reduced. I can not remember the last time I have even seen him do it. I think I have got to know his ways and him mine so we have built a trust together. I am always aware with Hooch that the mouthing could start. I never expect anything of him, he has not had a very enriching start to life and then has found himself in kennels, but he always impresses me with how he tries to do the right thing and keeps developing. I have never seen any edge or aggression with Hooch, he doesn't react to being barked at by other dogs and is always very polite around them.

I have walked him with many new walkers in recent months and all of them have thought he is a handsome, well behaved dog. I love HoochySmooch to bits and really hope there will be a home that will recognise his skills and help develop the ones he never got a chance to. love4.gif
