Lily's Story: Lily went into kennels at the age of four months due to a legal case. She became available to Rescue in July 2014, at one year old, so she grew up in kennels. We were delighted to help her. Lily is spayed, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Lily was in kennels in Broxbourne for a while, where she mixed with a socialisation pack of seven dogs; she settled well in this atmosphere. She lived in a home for one year, but Lily became excited and nippy with visitors, which made her owners anxious. This behaviour was not apparent during her previous kennel days, when many volunteers walked her. A behaviourist didn't witness this behaviour upon meeting Lily, but gave advice. Lily often stays in our staff room with her friend Mika, a Bedlington/Fell Terrier.
Lily is as fragile as a Lily. She can be emotionally engaging and needy. Lily is a pretty little white and fawn girl. She has a slight overshot lower jaw which may come from Pug or Bulldog ancestry. Lily meets dogs well outside, but keeps her focus on her people. She can assert herself, but is learning to be calm. Lily loves to place her paws upon your knees to make contact and ask for affection. Lily wins herself into everyone's heart. She is pure and true. Lily is a joy and needs her cuddles and strokes to remind her she is truly loved. Lily needs to be emotionally satiated within a loving family where she is included and central. She would benefit from a training class to build her confidence. Lily learns quickly, and once she is understands, she retains. Lily needs to be an only pet; she can be left short periods.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Lily's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.

What a treat, I met the lovely Lily today, a short coated Dexter lookalikeL lovely greeting in the kennel, she smelt my treat filled bumbag and sat immediately, sat to be harnessed too. Such an easy walk with a slack lead, she does't show nerves but is wary. I am used to dogs diving in the bushes if they think they heard/saw something, not Lily she dived away bless her!
Then into the paddock where she stayed close until Diesel walked by, she trotted over to say hi and shot back when I called her, this seemed to boost her confidence because then she started running and boy can Lily run she was up for fetch too, she brings toy back and drops it :).
Lovely lovely girl who surely won't stay long

The scrummy little Lily met Tia for the first time today, though you'd have thought they were old friends by the way they broke in to play as soon as they reached the paddock.
And then it was time to take on something a bit bigger...here comes Lennox
For anyone who hadn't noticed, Lennox (or Lennock?) is a great big, very playful, exceptionally lovely Boxer. Having gotten Lennox's seal of approval, Lily was whisked off for a long weekend foster with Lennox, Clover and Steve to meet their cats and see how she manages.

Lovely Lily came to stay for the bank holiday weekend...
Re: Lily Pug x Staffie DOB 07.13 Albury Guildford
First, we had a lovely walk with our boxer, Lennox. Both dogs were really well behaved. Lily was incredible, she walked well (occasionally to heel - a little more training will pay dividends) and hardly pulled.
Then it was back home for a good game in the garden.

Lily loved the little chewy shoe we gave her...

Then time out for a well earned rest...
Re: Lily Pug x Staffie DOB 07.13 Albury Guildford
Lily will be a great addition to any family. She loves to play from full on rough & tumble, to quietly nibbling a toy.
She sits for treats and takes them gently. She (eventually) sat and waited when being fed. She walks to heel sometimes and comes when called. This little dog has obviously had some training and in our view this will be extremely easy to build on.
We so want darling Lily to find her forever home soon. Go on, come and meet her, she has so much to offer you.
