Idea for fundraising, advice please

Postby jacnmrb » Wed Feb 08, 2017 6:17 pm

We would welcome the advice of fundraisers, as we have an idea but it could be a very poor one lol.gif
We are always being asked, when out with Bobby, what he is (breed wise). Guesses have been wide ranging. We therefore wondered whether, if we had the doggy DNA test, people might pay, say, £1 to guess his breed(s), if we had, perhaps, vouchers as a prize?
First downside is that several people might guess correctly.
No offence will be taken if this idea gets a firm thumbs down :thanks.gif:

Just be careful where you get your DNA test done as some are expensive and inaccurate. ...
If you are happy to pay for the test i think its a fun way to raise money ....maybe if several people guess correctly then put said names in a hat and pull out the winner .
I have arranged street collections for several years for other rescues and they are a great way to raise funds and awareness you do need at least 6 people and dogs to attract people ... love4.gif

Maybe do the DNA test first and see if the results are surprising, you'd do better if you have very unusual results thumbs.gif

I have a Wisdom Panel DNA test kit (retails at £58.99) which I am happy to donate for the fundraising if it goes ahead :cool.gif:

Thank you all for your input and kind offer of the Wisdom Panel test. I think the first steps could be
(1) We use Debbie's DNA test
IF Bobby's results are easily guessable, we reimburse Debbie and drop the fundraising.
IF Bobby's results are unusual, we will donate £60 (Amazon vouchers?) for the winning entry (do you think that's enough?).
I like the idea of putting joint winners in a hat and picking one.

Any thoughts please on how people could pay for their entry and RR record it so that it's private. The only way I can think of is by PayPal with the breeds written in the Message box.
Would this give Admin too much work?

After an animated conversation with a dog lover who made an unusual choice of breeds for Bobby, we'd like to give this fundraiser a go.
How can I contact Debbie? Please advise; thanks.
