Researcher please London Transport

Post by xxlynne » Mon Dec 28, 2015 10:49 am

Want to start a special project this year of advertising on London Public transport its a mine field to comprehend. Do you if your company advertise and how we would go about this as a charity? Dont want to pay a advertising company would like to cut the costs and go direct to optimise funds.

You can't go direct to TFL as they contract out their sites to media agencies.

Tube:
Exterion Media: 020 7482 3000
JCDecaux: 020 7298 8000

Buses:
Exterion Media: 020 7482 3000
ClearChannel UK: 020 7478 2200

London Overground:
KBH Sales Team
Email: sales@kbhontrainmedia.co.uk
Phone: 020 7207 5333

Digital media would have the lowest print costs as there is no print involved and you don't need someone to go to the site and paste the posters in place, but because they are more sought after they may cost more to book if none of these companies will do charity advertising for free (and as far as I'm aware none of them do for free). The chances of finding a site which has no booking are slim (cancellation), even if it happens these media companies will offer them to paying customers first, there will be a very short turnaround time and the likelihood is that it will be a static site (paper) meaning print and display costs.
Large advertising agencies with Charity clients can persuade the media companies to give them free ad space as a favour but that means paying an advertising agency in the first place, at a cost not even worth considering. You could get lucky and find a small advertising agency that wants a charity for its portfolio but they will not have much influence over media agencies and of course they won't take on a charity account without being paid enough to at least break even.
It is a minefield.

Have just found this link for Stagecoach, who will consider charities for help. There is a link on FAQ page to download the application form. http://www.stagecoach.com/media/faqs/faqs.aspx

John, can you or Lynne do this? Think it has to come from Director X

I also found a page for Adverta where you could nominat a charity for free bus advertising so I nominated RR. There are bi annual draws and the charity only needs nominating once so it's done now.

Thanks Teresa. The Stagecoach Group don't offer free advertising (again you have to contact external media groups) but they do support a few charities each year with donations/sponsorship, I'll find out if we have approached them in the past.
Adverta would be great if it comes off :cool.gif:
