We have had the girls a week today and they are as lovely as everyone says. In the house they have mainly been sleeping on the sofa. They are not really into toys and playing but they love being stroked or just resting. Tessa is very sweet in that she still cleans and "looks after" Lexi - their bond is very strong, they don't fight and even sometimes choose to eat out of the same bowl. Tessa likes to sleep in the dog bed in the bedroom and Lexi on the bed.

Outside Tessa is more relaxed and doesn't pull on the lead. Lexi is a bit more of a puller - she is just in a bit of a rush, to get to the park, then to get home but it is early days. The dogs they have met on lead have been met well. Tessa is a bit more keen to meet than Lexi but they both move on really quickly.

Here is a picture of them on the sofa just now. We had a very wet walk this morning and they are glad to be home!

An update on the girls over the past couple of weeks. They can both be left for a few hours without any issues at all and are excellent in the house and fully house-trained. Lexi still sleeps on the bed but Tessa likes her bed until exactly 5am then a lift up onto the bed (despite the fact she gets up on her own after breakfast - maybe she feels she has warmed up by then!).
Out and about Tessa has been off lead when it has been quiet. She stays close and is responsive enough and comes when called. All dogs she has met (on lead) she has met well with polite and interested sniffing. She is keen to say hello to all dogs and is a chilled out girl.
Lexi pulls on the lead and has prey drive so she is kept on an extender. The more she knows a route the more she is relaxed as she walks round it. She does not like other dogs in her face and will grumble at them. Having said that we took them for a walk with our friends Pug -Tess met her politely and Lexi didn't but then in the cemetery (where we were walking) the Pug was off lead and Lexi just ignored her despite regular close proximity. I think it is about building Lexi's confidence- the only dog she loves seems to be her Mum Tessa!
We visited my parents over the weekend and the girls settled into a strange environment quickly having a good sleep on the sofa and Tessa unashamedly offering her belly for my Dad to rub very quickly! They were keen walking in a strange place and we were able to let both dogs off lead for two periods on the walk. They loved it - especially Lexi who ran and ran around the field and searched out wildlife in the bushes.
Both dogs LOVE getting into cars - and travel well. They even try and get into any car if there is a door open on the street as they walk past. Great dogs!

We have had an eventful couple of weeks. Lexi has had a mammary tumour successfully removed but her wound has not healed well enough to allow the stitches to be taken out so she has to wear the dreaded cone of shame which makes her sad! She is on restricted walks until she is fully healed.
To keep Tessa socialised with other dogs, as Lexi finds meeting other dogs stressful, once a week she goes out without Lexi and mixes with 3/4 dogs with our dog walker which she really enjoys.
Lexi is a bit stressed out and about but the quieter it is the less stressed she is. When her stitches are better we are going to try running with her as she would love that.
They are both lovely affectionate dogs and love sleeping on the sofa or bed. They are not in anyway protective of food and totally love each other. They are the easiest dogs we have fostered in the home not interested in toys just food, sleeping, each other and us.

This week Tessa has been out and about off lead with our dog walker and her pack. She loves it and comes back exhausted. She is a little dog full of joy.
Lexi has been on walks with me and Tessa in the morning and then short walks by herself, she is less strong by herself and she has had some time on a really long lead which she loved. Her wound is nearly healed and fingers crossed the last of the stitches come out next Saturday. As she is not really bothering her stitches she only wears the cone of shame when there is no one in so no more sad face!
On Saturday we took them walking around Toys Hill - we let Tessa off for the bits of the walk we knew and she met other dogs nicely. Lexi stayed on the extender and ignored the other dogs but was a bit strong. Both love getting in the car and are fine on journeys in the back seat.
In the house they are both so easy Tess is a big cuddler and Lexi likes to sleep with her head on you. Both dogs have great temperaments and are very loveable.
