Admiral's Story: Admiral was found stray/abandoned with his litter brother and unclaimed within a North London council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Admiral will be neutered around the 'year old' mark by his family. This will be within the homing contract. Our dogs must never be used for breeding. Admiral is chipped and fully vaccinated. Admiral was in foster with three other dogs in Ascot awaiting his new family

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance, and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

What a delightful playful little pup. Admiral and his brother, Soldier, came out to play today. First time to have their harnesses on and first time on the leads and despite the expected puppy playfulness and wriggling, they took to it all extremely well. After having their photos taken, they trotted happily off into the woods with our volunteers for a bit of an explore and cuddles in the Poets hut.

Soldier has come to stay with his brother Admiral.
It’s early days but sooooo many positives to report!
They travelled really well on the 30 mins journey to my home and on arrival met my dogs very happily and confidently.
Soldier & Admiral are teeny, tiny compared to my dogs but they’re not bothered by that fact 0002.gif]
I have set up a crate with the door open and already, just a few hours in, both boys have taken themselves in there for a snooze.
They have LOVED the big garden and ran and ran and ran and ran around it!
They have been lovely with my dogs, playful yet respectful.
I am currently sitting on the sofa with both boys fast asleep on my knee. love4.gif
Beautiful, happy puppies.

So, what did Soldier and Admiral get up to last night, the first in our home?
They slept ALL night in their crate without a peep with Herbie the Staffie babysitter sleeping in his duvet next to them to make sure all was well!
They were totally clean and straight out this morning to do their business.
What good pups.

Admiral is a complete love.
He is sweet, very loving and loves being with people.

He is not very terrier like his brother is and happily let our cat share the living room last evening (ssshhh, don’t tell his bro Soldier who had taken himself to bed so missed out on a CAT being around! thumbs.gif)

He is a timid little dot at times and needs reassurance and cuddles.
I am trying really, really hard to treat him like a proper dog and not a cutesy, teeny, tiny, scruffy, little thing but just every now and then I pick him up for cuddles. It’s only every now and then. And it’s purely for his benefit. 0002.gif]

He is definitely getting the toilet training malarkey and is clean through the night.

He does gets pushed and bossed about by his brother Soldier but he never retaliates.

As I write this, Soldier has taken himself off to his crate a few rooms away but Admiral is sweetly sleeping on my knee.
I think that tells you a lot about their personalities!

We met Admiral and his brother Soldier yesterday, for a walk in the enclosed field with our RR Patterdale Ronnie (was Magic). Both of them were v calm and initially quite shy, loving being picked up and held tightly, as it was a bewildering meeting a new boisterous dog. After a while they were on the lead walking around without a care in the world. V well behaved and no bother at all, just taking it all in, with four humans and four dogs. They are v affectionate, v soft and cuddly. Frankly two cool guys.

Both pups are getting enough exercise charging around and playing in the garden.

What these boys need though is socialisation. It is quite obvious that they haven’t seen much of the world or walked on a lead.

The first time I took them out, both boys were overwhelmed and nervous of the world - cars, bikes, outside noise etc.

Now, once a day I am taking them out and about to experience the world.
We have sat on a bench near a busy road junction to watch the comings and goings, we have been for a wander around Pets at Home and yesterday we had a social walk with our ex foster, Ronnie Patterdale.

Soldier is really finding his paws and for the most, is happy and confident and has a lovely little prance to his plucky walk!

Admiral is much more reserved outside of the home and needs lots of reassurance and cuddles whilst he learns how to be brave.

Whoever is lucky enough to share their forevers with these lads will need to continue their socialisation especially for teeny, diddly, sweet natured Admiral.

Lovely Admiral has come to stay for a little while while the hunt for his forever family goes on.

He is just as we remember - gorgeous, happy, sweet natured, dog friendly, cat tolerant (will chase if they run!), house trained,.....and all that from a 5/6 month old pup who has, unfortunately, been unable to unpack his suitcase yet.

For anybody interested in this tiny little lad, PLEASE remember - he is a puppy, a puppy who has not had any consistency in his short life.
He needs TIME to settle and PATIENCE from his humans to allow this to happen.
He is very confident during the day and does not seem needy at all but now struggles at being left alone in a closed crate at night apparently so will need support to overcome this.
His first night back at ours was a success - an open crate and access to sharing a bed with a Staffie babysitter did the trick with him sleeping soundly all night.

He is SO worth investing your love in and he will repay you a million times over.
