Re: Lucy Staffie DofB 2008 Rustington
Well it’s been a while so thought I should update Lucy’s thread. Lucy has been with us for over 6 months now and I can honestly say she is adored by us all we have got to know her much better in this time and understand what she likes and doesn’t....she hates fireworks and thunder and we cannot leave her in rooms with windows to the front of the house as she guards it well, but our blinds and other objects get destroyed in her attempt to tell people to go away! this is really the only time you hear her make a noise, unless the lawnmower is out of course!
Lucy loves her walks and enjoys at least 2 a day, she does not show her age at all. Lucy has even enjoyed a few off lead beach walks when there has been no other dogs around and loved it, her recall is excellent. Lucy has met Rowan another RR dog, she had to try and tell him she was boss, but once that was over they walked really well together.
We managed to find out more about her past recently from posts on the Facebook page of the rescue she was in before RR, this made us really sad as she has been in rescue since July 2015 (2.5 years) and it’s hard to understand why she was a bit of an escape artist and we could see this could be an issue when we first fostered her, it’s not surprising really as prior to her rescue days she was caged 24/7 however now it’s as if she knows she’s safe, getting regular walks and lots of love so doesn’t attempt to try and get out of the garden or front door now......she’s home!
She’s had a recent vet check up and other than ground down front teeth was given a clean bill of health, and now weighs 20kg.
Lucy’s had a lovely bank holiday weekend with lots of walks, company, sun and even a ride out in the camper van and enjoyed a picnic.
I would say to anyone considering adopting a dog, please give them time to settle and please consider those that have been overlooked, the Lucy we brought home in October is a very different dog to the one now...and we are so pleased we found each other
