Briony Crossbreed x Terrier DofB 2015 West Moseley Foster

Post by xxlynne »

Briony meets dogs very well. She was so excited to come into a home environment today and meet Teresa and Abby. Briony will have lovely walks by the Thames and enjoy the rest of her time in Rescue until she meets her forever family

Briony is settling in well to her foster home here in West Molesey. She's enjoying long walks by the river everyday, and is very keen on saying hello and having a sniff of everyone she meets. She's generally very well behaved, and responds well to instruction. She's super affectionate and loves snuggling up with us on the sofa!

Briony is such a happy bouncy girl. She is an avid stick hunter when we go out for walks, and loves a good chew. She's very sociable and is eager to say hello to everyone we meet (whether on two legs or four!) She responds very well to training and is a fast learner.

We have had Briony for a few months now and she is a joy to be around. As we are still getting to know her we can only talk about the things we have learned about her. SHe is quick to learn. Lots of people reckon that she is collie cross staff by her looks. She thinks that everyone loves her and therefore feels it is ok to jump up on them - something we are trying to get her not to do. Not easy as she is still very young and enthusiastic. Most dog walkers say it's okay which doesn't always help when trying to train. But she is getting better. We live next to the river and have all the lovely riverside area to walk her and play ball which she loves! We live on an estate but do not walk her through it as there are cats! She knows this very well and as she is incredibly strong and pulls the whole way home, therefore we have decided to avoid these confrontations. She may well want to just chase, but we are not going to give her the chance. When we can at weekends,we take her for long walks in the Surrey Hills, and of course, stop for refreshment - dog friendly pubs or gardens are great - although the temptation of all that food is often difficult for her to handle, or other dogs that she wants to play with but is not able to. These are things we are learning each day as we have her. We can't predict how she will behave in certain circumstances but can only say what we know so far. Those we meet walking fall in love with her, she is so unique with the half and half face and such a lovely temperament. She just wants to play with everyone, though there are those that just get a sniff and walk on, great. As a guard dog - she is amazing. She's there at the window watching those passing on the footpath in front of our house. Squirrels - occasionally take the chance to run on top of garage roof - Briony totally objects and will let them know! THis does not mean she barks at everyone, but she will let you know she is here. She will let you when you wants to play - she drops teddie, or her big undestructable donut at your feet (and often on your foot!) which is her way of saying ' play with me now!'
She will sit down when you are putting her lead on to go out, she will sit down before you put her bowl down for dinner, when hugging someone she attempts to join in. She is gorgeous, she is still young, she needs further training, she is a joy, she also can be a pain wanting to play when i am getting dinner ready. She is not perfectly behaved, but she is perfectly made and she will be perfect for the right someone who accepts her warts and all.

Briony has grown from strength to strength. Her recall is really good unless totally focused on ball, stick or possible cat in sight. She is great at socialising with other dogs. She really really adores people - you no sooner look at her and she is there. She is also adored by all who meet her because she does have such a lovely disposition. THose i see oocasionally are so surprised that she is still with us - "But she is sooooo pretty" is the usual response. Everyone remarks on her unique features, mainly the half and half face. I know that special home is just waiting for her. They just need to meet her. We recently discovered she likes sunbathing - with strangers! She walks over to them and lies down next to them (much to their surprise especially in the case of a young lady who was not fully dressed) thankfully they have found it as funny as I have.

Finally managed to get a shot of our gorgeous girl smiling! She is such a happy soul and so easy to please! Took her blackberry picking and she was very patient with me whilst picking though she much preferred the walking after!
People still cannot believe she is still with us! And so impressed with her much calmer behaviour though she is still excited to see and meet all.
We have a vast improvement on playing ball - she would not let go of the ball! Much better now and is even bringing it back to us.

After a long and boring journey in the car in which Briony was perfectly behaved, we've arrived home and she's inspected the garden. Finding that ok, she's also checked out the house. She seems to think everything is acceptable!

Thank you so much Teresa and Addie for taking such brilliant care of her - we can tell from how responsive to commands and well behaved she is that you've done lots of work with her - and thank you so much for letting us take her away from you!

I'm also with the university, so I'm going to be telling everyone that she's my thesis support dog and I have every intention of taking her into my tutorials when I'm teaching!

Thanks also Dianna and Lynne for all your time matching us up!

Our lovely Briony has gone to a new home today with Thomas and Lorren! Addie said she could not have asked for a better couple to take her home. And although the house is soooooo empty without her and we have shed a tear or two we know that this is all we really wanted for her. We have loved her to bits and surprised as they were that we have had her for such a long time. She is so friendly and loving! I know they will be all the better for having adopted such a gorgeous dog. We will miss her but so happy.
