Sorry for the late update, as Jen said we all had a pub date last night with Miss Meera but instead she was on her way to her new loving home and we went without her to raise a few glasses to her happiness.

It all happened very quickly with a message from Lynne yesterday morning. A long chat with Sarah and Andy on the phone about this cheeky girl ensued and they were soon on their way to Hampshire. Meanwhile Nicky came over to say her goodbyes to Meera which delighted her. This was followed shortly by the arrival of the Presley's who were greeted with much enthusiam at the door, the boys getting particular attention.

Very shortly Meera was sitting at the family's feet, sharing kisses and licks and she seemed happy and comfortable. She was put through her paces, being asked to sit and give up her toys to the boys which she did well despite the excitement. Talking with Andy and Sarah it was clear that she will be given the boundaries that she needs and also the support and love that she craves plus lots of lovely walks and training. We all agreed that it was time for her to start a new chapter of her short life in a home where she belongs.

Sadly the heavens opened so we couldn't go in the garden. Here are her homing pictures, sorry they are not better being inside and a bit cramped but they show the story

We are missing her very much this morning but she would have been going back to kennels this afternoon and we are happy that instead she has become a West Country girl - be happy little one, we are sure that you will give your new family much joy. Andy and Maria XXX

Wonderful news. Huge thanks to Maria and Andy for keeping Meera out of kennels as much as they could and being there for her. Be happy Meera :smiley-gen132.gif: xx

Wonderful update from Meera's new family:

Meera has completely stolen our hearts. I have told everyone what wonderful carers you have been to her. She has been a really lucky girl to have you in her life.

Over the last few days Meera has been exploring where we live. We are really lucky that we live about 200 metres away from the River Frome which has the most beautiful walks. The closest part to us is surrounded by woods, whilst another part has an amazing viaduct and a very old quarry which has been turned into a conservation area. Meera has really enjoyed walking around all of this. On one of our walks we ended up on a really muddy path and I was slipping and sliding. She understood when I asked her to go steady and she also waited really patiently whilst I worked out the best way to navigate the path!

We love how Meera will bring her harness over in her mouth when she wants to go for a walk. And how she rolls around on her back (she did it in the middle of a road the other day - lucky it was one which doesn't get many cars!). She is getting much more use to the comings and goings of the house, and she can quite happily be in the garden and not be bothered by the yapping dogs next door. She still likes to chase cats though!

Eden and Cal absolutely adore her, and they are really love being involved with her walks and with her care. They also appreciate she needs her own space too. I think this has helped her to settle even more.

We plan on getting her more socialised with other dogs and I am going to arrange "doggy dates" with my friends with dogs. I am starting to see the same people on walks too, and with some people and dogs she will wait patiently while I pass the time of day.
