Bless you guys, what an awful bunch of circumstances, well done for such an honest account, picking yourselves up and looking forward and being there for Dustin as always, I feel for you all, I know what a blow to confidence an incident can be but now you will be even more prepared and as you'll have found, the confidence does come back and now more experienced than ever.

Dustin looks very content in the pics and pleased with the return of the sunshine and warmth, I recognise that upside down on sofa position thumbs.gif I think he's enjoyed being ultra spoilt by Granny too !

Love to you all and big cuddle to your boy Dustin love4.gif

Reading your very honest update, I for one am very proud of you all. Yes it was an awful experience and I'm glad the other dog is ok and the owner was an understanding one. Many, many, many owners would have insisted 'the dog be returned' and blame EVERYTHING on the dog. It was an accident, unintential and lessons learned. Pat yourselves on the back for bouncing back and being there for Dustin and for being such devoted, loving, responsible owners. Xx

Ah bless you all. We had same experience with our little Molly. May be little but strong.we have to keep her on lead as gets so distracted outside. We have to keep her muzzled outside all the time because of other dogs off which havnt got recall as Molly has had 2 accidents where she wouldn't let go and it is such an awful experience to happen. I just couldn't get it out of my head and still not even now.it is a confident knock.lucky my husband is more confident than me. For mollys sake too. Kim.

Hi All,

I hope everyone is well. Here is a video of some of Stacey's handiwork. She has made Dustin a "snuffle mat" to enrich his meal times.

He was a little badly behaved at the start of the video but he does really love it!

HI All,

Just wanted to pop on and say Thank you so much for the very supportive responses to my last post. :thanks.gif: They brought a lot of comfort and reassurance and I appreciated them greatly. I wanted to get my thank you post in before Tim's video of the snuffle mat but he beat me to it!!

The snuffle mat project was a risk, I had wondered whether he was going to rip it apart like he does his soft fluffy toys but he is so gentle with it as he snuffles for his food or treats. Watching him love using it makes my day! woo.gif]

So glad the scarey trip wasn't as terrible as it may well have been.............Dustin is a lovely boy who does have dog issues as we all know.....let's just be glad it was not so much worse, and thank goodness the dog owner was understanding.Dustin has so very many good points.

One of my neighbours accidentally let go of a lead once and her furry friend was missing for three days, !

Big hugs xXx

Hi all,

Quite a while since our last update so I though I'd pop on and share a few bits and pieces.

We've struggled a little to find an animal behaviourist that we can work with consistently and reliably. It seems that they are all very busy and unable to commit the time that Dustin needs. After speaking at length to a trainer that works training police dogs and with extreme aggression cases she recommended speaking with our vet. So we did. It turns out to be great advice! We have been referred to the Queen Mother's Small Animal Hospital and are now working with a vet who is also a specialist animal behaviourist as well.

Dustin is now on a course of Prozac. This is to reduce his anxiety to a point where we might be able to work on positive association with other dogs to increase his tolerance. It's early days but he seems to be responding well to the meds in the first week and doesn't appear to be suffering any of the side effects.

Fingers crossed that this helps him relax. If not, then no problems! Sunrises are pretty at 05:30!

I'm popped a few picture below.

When we take Dustin to the field we have had to start wrapping his legs like a show jumping horse to stop him from taking all the skin of his hocks when extreme braking! He did have a little of a silly walk when we first put it on but he soon got used to it :)

Here is one of Dustin "helping" to make the bed!

We will try and not leave it so long before posting a few more pictures up!
