Diesel needsa supportive family to offer time and tolerance to allow their new dog to settle. Diesel needs a Bull breed experienced family to manage his excitement levels and know and believe in him as he can play with clothing but easy to address and avoid. Easy to walk and given confidence enjoys meeting of majority dogs, but his confidence needs to be built. Diesel would enjoy a secure garden and exit management to offer him play and safety NB Our Rescue asks owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces and manage encounters, as dog law changes place dog's lives at greater risk.

Known background: Diesel was found stray/abandoned in May 13 and unclaimed within a council pound. We stepped forwards to offer a Rescue place. Diesel is neutered, chipped and fully vaccinated. Currently in boarding kennels in Guildford.

About Diesel: Diesel has a lot of fuel in his energy but once he is one his journey he settles into the walk, ahead but not desperately pulling. He mixes with dogs well when handled by a confidence walker. Often forms friendships during his walks and rarely gets flustered. Gets excited with visitors, very friendly and rarely but he can grab clothing in his excitement and given the item of clothing he loses interest: As with all terriers best to control their hype not to whip it up. Diesel loves people very loving and respectful of his home environment.

Diesel is a medium sized English Bull Terrier x Staffie with an orange brindle coat and striking prick ears which make him look alert. Kind words or a treat offered and his ears are back in receptive mode. Diesel has coped well in kennel but his energy is a little frustrated and he needs a foster or permanent home before he reaches the 2 year mark. Such a great boy he doesnt deserve to be over looked.

Original ref: Diesel Lovely Diesel has been with us for almost 18 months. Ebt X Staffy boy. He's picky in kennels with other dogs but that could be kennel thing as we know many dogs are very dog friendly when away from the busy kennel environment. 2- 3 years old. Been born with a problem with his leg which causes minor intermittent limping but is no problem for Diesel and cant be treated as such although he is currently receiving Reiki from one of our supporters.

Diesel travelled from Norwich today starting the long journey at 7am and arriving 11 am...He joined a walk with a family Marrianne, Steve, Tom and Millie and strutted his stuff and stole their hearts. So 1 hour after he arrived, he was waving us goodbye..on a Trial Adoption to see how he settles into family life after 18 months in kennels.

Yes 18 months...our thanks to our friends in Norwich who have hoped and hoped one day Diesel will get a Rescue place and low and behold he hopefully went straight into a family home.

Paws firmly crossed for this boy. He's SO very gorgeous, well behaved AND gets on with other dogs too.... I honestly can't believe he had been overlooked for so long. Hope he can adjust to home life quickly enough to earn his place in this family.

Big good luck to Diesel and his potential new family. I hope things go well & thank you for giving him a shot! (also thank you for helping me not completely break my car...!) ;) :thanks.gif: :thanks.gif: :thanks.gif:

Diesel was a little nervous to harness this morning and he mouthed my lead a bit but with a firm NO and quickly out of the kennel,he stopped. Gorgeous boy, very handsome and friendly. With the Staffie face and all cuddly he is STAFFIE but as soon as I got on with the walk he is TERRIER! Very sharp and busy on his walk, did not miss a thing and very interested in everything. In the paddock he loved to run and run and then I was surprised and rewarded with a lovely recall and cuddles which I thought he would be too busy for :smiley-gen132.gif:

Diesel came back to us on Saturday. He had a wonderful week out of kennels with a family who were new to Staffies and both Diesel and they learnt "lots". Diesel achieved housetraining, enjoyed his food and lots of company and long walks. He can get exciteable and wants to play, on occassion he will grab the sleeve of a coat but if you give him the coat he immediately loses interest he wants interaction and doesnt quite know how to do this when he's mega excited like when a loved ones arrives home. He will learn and is a fast learner. He is learning also not to play with the lead...by using a chain lead. When he is faced with new situations and occasionally new people he will bark and need a little time to feel secure. He met most dogs well outside but tended to be "interested" in Staffies which was the main reason why his foster family returned him as they didnt have the confidence to ensure the meetings would go well, though no incidents happened.

After 18 months in kennels Diesel came a long way in one week and in more confient hands it would seem natural to take him through further into settling his energy and learning expectations and resocialisation. Our family did really well and Steve in particular put a lot of time into Diesel and they haven't been put off ..just need a more adjusted Staffie who can offer more into the bargain.
