Jack's Story: Jack grew up on a farm with an elderly Labrador and grown up children. After the Labrador passed away, they gave him up because one of his owners had a stroke and became very sensitive to his barking. Another lady took him in, but his terrier nature was a concern to her. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Jack is neutered; chipped & fully vaccinated. Jack is currently in boarding kennels near Guildford.

Jack is a bit lost in kennels and needs to be in a home environment. He settles in quickly and is a terrific companion dog - especially for Terrier fans. Jack needs a Terrier aware family who will support him when he meets new dogs. He settles afterwards. Jack is not for cats or small furries, but has done well around horses. He has also lived with older children.

Jack came into our Rescue in December 2017. We have rehomed him twice, but sadly, he was returned to us both times. Jack shared his second home with another Patterdale; the other Patterdale would stalk Jack to play, but Jack found this intrusive, and they started to fight.

PLEASE NOTE: Dog laws have changed with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces, and manage and support encounters so as not to place dog's lives at risk, (Destruction or Control Orders are commonplace nowadays).

***PLEASE HELP OUR LONG STAY DOGS: Our min. adoption donation £175, which supports our work and Is non returnable. We will offer an alternative dog should our dog not settle given adequate time and reassurance. Rescue Remedies offers their dogs back up for life and exist on the goodwill of our supporters and volunteers.

Please click for Jack's thread to view regular updates, new pictures and videos. To apply to home a dog, you must be ready within 7 days and complete a online homing questionnaire We work fast to secure our dogs their loving homes and can be talking to up to 10 families at any one time. Please remain open: We have the dogs we have. Our dogs need a supportive family to offer patience, time & tolerance to allow them to settle.

Jack's progress through our Rescue below
We work with our dogs & often reveal a different picture & positive skills as they build trust. Original Referral information : Jack's owner asked us to help Jack find his new terrier family. Background:
Jack grew up on a farm with a Labrador. His owner had a stroke and became sensitive to his barking so they rehomed him to a lady. She found him good with her horse and older children but very excited around small animals of all descriptions. She found he got stressed being left alone.

Collected Jack from Broxbourne yesterday and have been spending a lot of time getting to know this little 'Fella', Jack is emotional and very affectionate. He adores his people and is very happy to dance in front of your whilst trying to land a lick on your nose. He is easy to pick up and loves cuddles but wriggly, busy and has an active mind. Jack is a bit of a complainant when left little protest whimpers, pleading barks and a little russell at the door. Jack slept in my lounge last night to keep him in the warm...I went in to him after about 15 mins of carfuzzle and showed him his bed as a message "no Im not coming back settle down". Jack sat with his shoulder to the door and not knowing him I was unsure how I would get past him. I talked to him and stroked him and lightly held his collar and squeezed myself out and through the door. Then had to open it very slightly to turn off the light and the nose was there but a firm "stay there!" and he stepped back resigned. I hour later all was quiet...in the morning no damage but nose at the door and ready to leave the room on meeting.

We had a lovely walk in the kennel grounds. He met Tilly and both were very excited on meet. It took 10 minutes for them to settle. At one point we parted and they were reintroduced and it took 5 minutes to settle. We went off in cars to a park. Jack & Tilly and a new lady Daisy met outside the cars like old friends and mixed on the walk. We were able to exchange leads with the dogs at close proximity. Jack walked beside and was nose to nose with both dogs and a chines crested dog passing by.

Jack will do well with us in terrierrescue and we will promote his socialisation so he learns to settle and anticipate good vibes with dogs.

This little dog is very biddable and manageable - he wants to please you. He did a little bit of lead biting as we left the kennel block but a firm 'no' soon stopped that. He trotted along beside me enjoying his walk despite the sleet and cold. He showed an interest in everything around him and snuffled around amongst the leaves for interesting smells. Let's hope he finds his home soon. Everything crossed. :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif:

I really like Jack, This little Patterdale is a fun loving cheeky chap whose charm will win you over.
A walk with Jack is a great time. He is very interested in everything around him but is cautious and thinking in his manner.
This clever chap is bursting with warmth and affection. When he walks he is calm and watches me for clues on what to do, great with traffic cyclists and good with other dogs we've met during walks. Happy to carry a stick as he walks and have a dig at mouse and mole hills. Enjoys a cuddle and a dry off in car. Can't wait to get him out again.

Walked little Jack again today - he is a great little chap who enjoys being out of his pen though not initially. I had to persuade him a bit at first but he soon started enjoying the walk and the spring like sunshine certainly helped. He does need a home - he is another little Patterdale who finds the noise and clamour of the kennel block confusing and stressful. :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif:

(Since returned)
Debbie and Dean were eager to come and meet Jack ...and arrived with home baked treats for the lad and the other Rescue dogs. Jack walked out with Rexx and they soon settled together. Debbie and Dean have owned 2 Patterdales up until recently and so everything to offer Jack, to allow him to settle and be understood. He will have constant company and be a major part of their lives from this day on.

Jack came back into our care today. He needs a family he can settle his excitement on meeting dogs. He needs a supportive approach and within 3 mins Jack settles with other dogs. We will continue to give him parallel walks and build his confidence up. I will try to video his 'meets'. The last 2 walks I did with him with Rexx; and in the park Daisy & Tilly he was soon mingling and happy to be in another dog's company. Welcome back little lad

Walked this dinky little fella yesterday . Aw he has such a pretty face and is very loving . He wouldn't leave the grounds so we went for a walk to the poets hut and then to have a run around in the paddock. Jack found a toy for us to throw then decided he would keep it. He ran around with it then came and sat under my legs with it . He is a dear little chap . Lovely boy xxxxx
