PLEASE NOTE: Dog laws have changed with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces and manage encounters for at least 4 months until sure of their dogs instincts & skills, most of our dogs will need to be retained always on a lead, so as not to place dog's lives at risk, (Destruction or Control Orders are common place nowadays).
***PLEASE HELP OUR LONG STAY DOGS: Our min. adoption donation £175, which supports our work and Is non returnable. We will offer an alternative dog should our dog not settle given adequate time and reassurance. Rescue Remedies offers their dogs back up for life and exist on the goodwill of our supporters and volunteers.
Please click for Jack's thread for regular updates, new pictures and videos. To apply to home a dog, you must be ready within 7 days and complete a homing questionnaire submitted Online We work fast to secure our dogs their loving homes and can be talking to up to 10 families at any one time. Please remain open: We only have the dogs, we have. Our dogs need a supportive family to offer patience, time & tolerance to allow them to settle.
Jack's progress through our Rescue below
Original Referral information : We work with our dogs & often reveal a different picture & positive skills as they build trust. 15.03.17: Called by a vets a Jack Russell had been bought in to be Put To Sleep PTS no other Rescue willing to help as he had nipped (not bitten)
16.03.17: Brief history for Jack
He was kept in a yard for the first 3 years of his life with little to no attention or training.
The 2nd owner had him for a week, kept in a busy home with children, other dogs and cats but brought him in for euthanasia because he nipped her on two occasions.
I have had him at home few 2 days and he clearly suffers from anxiety, he follows me like a shadow and doesn't like to be left alone.
He is really good on walks and very clean.
I have been currently feeding him pedigree sachets and adding in 2 x zylkene capsules to help with his anxiety.
I have had no issues with nipping or biting. I feel with time and effort, establishing a routine and some training he will do well with a suitable owner. He loves a snuggle on the sofa and a fuss and is a lovely dog. I wish I could keep him myself but he needs more than I can give him.
Thank you so much for helping this lad, you are all amazing!
Thanks

Re: Jack JRT DofB 2014 Gatwick Kenns
Sarah and I had the delight of welcoming this little treasure to our family today. He's a dinky little soul, had travelled well and was very friendly with the vet nurse, the lovely vet nurse who'd saved his life and drove him to us today. Jack was also very comfortable with her young nephew, who was sad to say goodbye to his new friend.
Jack is a little nervous of new people and dogs, but then everything is new and overwhelming. He loved his countryside walk, looking in awe at two horses who passed close and many runners and cars.
He's a little character and skips along, enjoying his walk. He also happily let me put his collar on with no issues. He just needs reassurance and time to settle. I hope you enjoy our pics, i can't think he'll be with us too long, little joy he is!!

Re: Jack JRT DofB 2014 Gatwick Kenns
Like Cora said we got to welcome this little treasure yesterday. He is a very dinky little chap, little legs, long body and big bushy tail.
He was nervous of meeting me and Cora but nothing I wouldn't expect considering all the changes there has been in his world recently. He really enjoyed sniffing about on our walk and was such a good boy round the horses, runners and traffic.
He is not keen on other dogs at the moment and will bark at them to let them know!
Lovely little boy welcome to RR where you will have many friends and walks no doubt!

Re: Jack JRT DofB 2014 Gatwick Kenns
Jack was a little nervous of me going in his kennel and getting his lead on, but with a bit of distraction, he is fine. We had a lovely walk with Fredds and Kim today, both dogs getting along fine. Jack is as light as a feather on the lead and he was happy for me to give him a few head rubs along the way. We had a photo shoot with Tim after, so I'm sure Tim will post some photos soon. Very cute boy is Jack with his tiny head and very alert expression. He is very friendly so I'm sure he will settle with us all soon.

Re: Jack JRT DofB 2014 Gatwick Kenns
This little lad is so scrumpy, he wasn't as nervous as I'd expected him to be and although he'd only just met Teresa (30 mins earlier) he was reacting to her talking to him and was soon taking treats....he looks younger than his estimated age and is a typical little terrier - into everything but still a joy to photograph
Mmmmm I see a treat Do you think I can have one please Teresa said he was extremely gentle when taking a treat and didn't grab at all A few more of this handsome boy ...

Tim. What a pleasure to meet this little fella yesterday. He is a real sweetheart who is finding the kennels a bit overwhelming at the moment. Hopefully he will settle in no time at all xx
