Charlie is Pattie of the month for May 18
Charlie needs a terrier aware, supportive family to offer time and tolerance to allow their new dog to settle. NB Our Rescue asks owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces and manage encounters, as dog law changes place dog's lives at greater risk.

Known background: Charlie was taken in from an advert online when he was 9 months old to live a family in April 16 with their 14 year old son & Weimaraner. Charlie being a young Patterdale terrier has 'tested' the family, whose instincts are to train him to calm him. Charlie is now 2 years old, neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Charlie is worm & flea treated. We stepped forwards to offer a Rescue place. Charlie was homed for 8 months but has returned due to his owners ill health. Charlie was in boarding kennels nr Guildford

Charlie is now 14 months old. "Charlie is a funny, eager, full of energy pup deserves a stable and loving home who will invest time with him to continue his development."Charlie is a jumper but this is enthusiasm and we are trying to stop this. He tends to react to larger dogs on walks and to horses. We are toilet training Charlie. Unless walking or outside with us he is being kept in a crate. He is very loving and fun and will absolutely benefit from training. Not allowed on furniture sleeps in crate in living room."

Original Referral: Please remember this is the information we received from the referrer. Once a dog is with us and we begin to work with them and unpack them they can and often do reveal positive skills trust and transform behaviours June 2016: Charlie came to live with his current family in April 16 He is a typical Patterdale and his family's instincts are to contain and control. They appreciate they aren't naturally accepting of Patterdale antics, but they have bought him into safety and he is now ready for his terrier home

Charlie is developing into a funny little guy and has had a pamper day at the groomers this weekend. Handsome little fella.

Took Charlie for nice long walk today,he greeted me nicely in his kennel. On our walk we met Codi who laid down when he saw Charlie. Charlie is very typical of the patterdale breed and possible Bentley's brother from another mother :D We had a nice walk ,he is certainly a go getter. Everyone is going to love him love4.gif and he is super cute.

Had a lovely walk with Charlie the other day. Very determined and positively pulled me up the steps on bridge over railway line, so I had to point out to him that not only had he 4 legs to my 2, but he was an awful lot younger! He also enjoyed the fallen leaves that I kicked up as we walked along. A great personality and deserves a loving home ASAP.

Charlie jumped in the front of the dog mobile today completely unperturbed that Troy was the other side of the grid and signalled he was ready for the off. We parked up and Charlie waited patiently whilst I walked Troy then Rafferty and delighted jumping down into the wet puddles and we had a wonderful walk down by the river.

Walking out on the main road Charlie was a little on edge around the traffic zooming by. He also aware off passerby with a touch of tension but soon passed. Happy to jump back in the car having greeted Rafferty through his travel crate.

Lovely young boy, busy with his very important patt business. Doesn't take any notice of weather, even flowing pathways. Great video shows him at his best. thumbs.gif

I walked cheeky Charlie yesterday for the first time - as someone else said - he's just like Bentley! He was very still when harnessing and muzzling up and getting ready to go - a couple of sits with treats to calm his excitement and we soon got underway. Charlie was much more chilled than I expected on the way out of the kennels, and took the neighbours' barking in his stride. He was similarly calm when some very noisy trains went past, and wasn't even fazed by the busy road. We quickly headed off and Charlie was very busy all through the walk, so much to be sniffed! Such a lovely keen pace and steady away on the lead. :dog_running-186.gif:

The only other animals out and about were some faraway squirrels, which Charlie watched with great interest (and laser terrier focus!) Charlie is still very much a puppy and jumped up at me a little, but this was puppy enthusiasm and inquisitiveness; he was very keen to see which pocket I'd stashed the treats in!

On getting back to the kennels, I tried to get Charlie into his snazzy coat, but he took this as a game and seemed to find great hilarity when I tried to wrestle him into it! I know I was in stitches! blob.gif

Little Charlie helped for the Christmas photography session at the weekend. He is a sweet little boy. Very shy in the kennel while harnessing so I took my time and he soon came round. We went to the field on the extender and he LOVED it and hopefully they photographers got some good photos. He had a wonderful time doing zoomies around the field at 100 miles an hour. It was so sweet to see him have some fun. He was very good when he picked up something he shouldn't (a piece of rubbish) and he was told "leave it" he did drop it. Back in the kennels I put his coat back on and he gave lovely cuddle and kisses.
