I hadn't seen Arthur since I dropped him off for his weekend foster with Dawn & Pete back at the end of May. I knew he wasn't away this weekend so popped over and reacquainted myself - To be honest I don't know who was the most excited :)

After the initial licking behind my ears and lots of cuddles we wen't off to a lunchtime walk. The weekend breaks are certainly helping Arthur, the last time went for a walk he was a bit yappy at passing cars...this time not a murmur :D - we were on the road for around 10 mins before branching off into the woods and he was as good as gold, even several cyclists went past and Arthur just ignored them !

The hour went so so quick and before we knew it, it was time to put Arthur back for a well deserved treat and a bowl of water.

Good ol Arthur...I was so proud of him today, he's got so much love to give and certainly gives more than he takes :)

Arthur should sleep well tonight :) I took advantage of a break in the weather today and Arthur and I went for a good hours walk in the countryside this afternoon.

I was very impressed with Arthur, he found some foxes poo, didn't attempt to roll or eat it ;) - we then went into a field where it's obvious cows had been in there at some point during the day, Arthur again didn't attempt to eat it (wish my four terriers were this well behaved).

His recall is really good ( especially when he knows you've got a treat) so working with him would be very easy.

Please view the very short video of his recall and just walking in the field on an extendable lead. You can see how much love he's got to give.....

Arthur and I had a wonderful afternoon stroll in the sunshine this afternoon, although to be honest we didn't actually see much of the sun as we wondered off track into thick woodland.
I think Arthur enjoyed himself - his terrier instincts kicked in and he spent most of the time nose to the ground, sniffing everywhere, tail wagging furiously :)

In all the times I've walked Arthur he's never showed any interest in going into the stream for a paddle but today he decided he was going to give it a go, he was a bit tentative a first and kept looking back to see if I was still there. We were out for a good hour and and taking the scenic route back to the kennels also included a 5 minute walk along a busy road.

Remembering Arthur can be a bit yappy at passing cars (although last time he was as good as gold) I was slightly apprehensive, no need :) Arthur walked the route without a sideways glance at a good dozen or so cars that passed us. he was rewarded at the end with his favourite treat - very small lumps of cheese :) .

It was then cuddle time in his kennel for 10 mins or so (Arthur does love a good cuddle) - I left him chewing on a raw hide bone tail wagging away.

Arthur looked so happy as he walked towards me on Friday :biggrin.gif:
He was out with Val and also Tootsie walked by Steve, they all looked like they'd had a top time :D
I was thrilled when Arthur trotted towards me with a big happy smile, clearly meant I had to give him a treat ;)

Arthur is a real success story. He is now a different dog in kennels - more relaxed and not so choosy about who approaches him. He greeted me today with kisses and cuddles, let me harness him easily and carry him out of the kennel so that the other dogs didn't stress him. He walked happily alongside Tootsie and didn't bark once on our walk. An all-round good dog! :biggrin.gif:

The last time I met Arthur was back in May so I wasn't sure if he would remember me....Tim collected him from the kennels and approx when Arthur was 6 ft away his tail started wagging furiously...aha, the lady with the cheese.

Short video of Arthur with me and then with Tim.........

We went for a short walk before we sat down for a cuddle. On the walk Tim mentioned that the last couple of times he's been really good with traffic and wanted to try again but with me this time. Arthur didn't disappoint....several cars and a rather noisy van went passed, NO reaction from Arthur at all :D .

Below are a few photos of one of our favourite terriers...

I knelt down as we were waiting to head back into the kennels and wee little Arthur jumped up onto my leg and balanced there, turning round every now and then to give me a kiss :biggrin.gif:

Arthur is a very clever boy and so photogenic he's won at prize with Dogs Today :smiley-gen014.gif: :smiley-gen014.gif: :smiley-gen014.gif: :yes.gif:

They asked for pictures to help them celebrate reaching one million followers on DT fb page and I submitted this one...

Gorgeous isn't he :D

Well Dogs Today agreed and he was selected in the top 100 photos received :smiley-gen078.gif:
He wins a 3 months subscription to Dogs Today and the kind people there have agreed that Arthur can give this to our auction fundraising page and raise some money to help him and his friends, so watch this space on the Auction site, would make an excellent present with Xmas coming up ;)

This was the message we received, Arthur is very proud and looks forward to seeing his picture in the esteemed Dogs Today montage in a future issue :)

Rachel and I collected Arthur on Saturday as he had a lunch date...with Rosie (one of our terriers). Reasons why will hopefully become clearer as we get closer to xmas ;)

Anyway we knew Arthur would be quite vocal to Rosie (and that Rosie would ignore him). With Arthur it's a bit of a learning curve as I don't think he's been socialised too much with other dogs. So off we walked Arthur true to form being vocal so it's a slightly raised voice I simply said "Arthur...Enough". Silence :)

Less than 5 minutes into the walk they were actually walking side by side, no yapping or agressiveness from either dog. We both got the impression that Arthur just wanted to play. When the treats came out they both sat next to each other, very close indeed :)

We walked them both for around an hour and Arthur was as good as gold. Arthur did try to carry out the obligitory sniffing of backsides which didn't impress Rosie and she did tell him off...poor Arthur jumped back startled...so did I.

This weekend Arthur is meeting not one but two of ours for lunch. Watch this space!
